Chapter 29

• I woke up in a large bed with a curtain and immediately searched the other side of the bed - empty. Dragan had disappeared once again. It had been a few weeks since our first night together... and I still didn't know what name to give it. We spent the nights together almost as a matter of course, and it didn't just have to be about the physical. We talked, read together, sometimes he just watched me work. I usually left him at night when I wanted to go to sleep. Only when we actually had sex with each other did I stay with him.
• I'd never been in a relationship before and I didn't realise what kind of parameters vampires have when it comes to their partners. I knew that my heart raced every time I saw him. Sometimes even when I held something in my hands that smelled like him. My body no longer obeyed my mind... and that made me helpless in many ways.
• I scurried to my room and got ready for the day. Vici was the only one I found at breakfast. I was wearing a white blouse that I hadn't quite buttoned up yet.
