I walk into the family room, my heart racing as I see everyone waiting for me—my father, Dominic, Griffin, Lucas, and Callie. Lucas looks confused, clearly not up to speed on what just happened, but the others… they already know. They’re watching me closely, their faces a mix of concern and judgment, and it takes everything I have to hold my head up high.
I take a deep breath. “I know what happened today… wasn’t my finest moment.” I’m not sure how to say it, so I just push forward. “It was a mistake. I’m not proud of it, but I need you all to understand—Jaxon and I are over. Whatever was left between us, it’s done.”
