Chapter 25 Is That A Human?!
- ***
- {You have come into contact with a god relic: Tail Bone of the Winter Dragon, Syrax the Dread!}
- {WARNING! You have broken the enchantment of light!}

- ‘Huh?’ Clinton stared in confusion. ‘A god relic?’
- CLICK!
- Right at that moment, amid a loud rumbling sound, the majestic door filled with enchanted runes was pushed open from the other side forcefully.
- Clinton looked, and then he froze.
- ‘I-is that a human?!’
- What he saw made Clinton’s heart shudder.
- Out of not just fear, but dread, and also excitement.
- Clinton felt all these contrasting emotions at the same time because at this moment, before his eyes, he saw a mighty contingent of strange warriors rush into the corridor through the suddenly opened majestic door.
- As soon as he thought it, his miserable undead system confirmed it for him.
- Beep!

- A mighty contingent of 11 warriors rushed into this corridor.
- For the first time, after weeks of being tormented by his first encounter with them though he never got to see them with his eyes due to the bright lighting then and his weak level, Clinton finally saw the Holy Knights with his eyes.
- The Holy Knights were different from what he expected but not far from his expectations, they were like envoys of light.
- Clad in thick golden and white armor, only bright light shone from the few narrow openings in the thick armor.
- Most of them, 5 of the 8 wielded large swords, while another of them wielded a normal long sword and a big golden shield.
- As for the last Holy Knight, this warrior wielded a long spear.
- From this little observation, Clinton made a guess.
- The Holy Knights were not like he expected them to be. For some reason, staring at them, he felt that they seemed like monsters just like the goblins and ogres, the only difference being that they were more intelligent.
- As for the 3 other warriors that came in with the Holy Knights though…
- “…”
- “…”
- “…..!”
- Clinton froze in shock, dread, and excitement as he stared at the familiar body that he was so used to seeing in his previous life.
- Clinton stared at humans, real human beings!
- There were 3 humans, a lady and 2 men. One of the men was slim and fit like an athlete, wielding 2 daggers with a dangerous look in his black eyes.
- The other man was hefty like a body builder, ripped with muscles. He held no weapon, his hands seemed to be his weapons.
- As for the last of the 3, the lady, she wielded a staff.
- Staring at that staff, Clinton experienced something that was extremely similar to what he felt when confronting level 5 monsters in the decaying forest.
- His eyes widened. ‘Magic!’
- Staring at the undead skeleton before them that held another bone, the 3 humans had serious and grave looks on their faces as they observed.
- “How is he withstanding the enchantment of light?” The hefty man said in a low growl the next moment. “Is he withstanding the spell?”
- “No,” the lady replied even as she keenly observed the skeleton. “He’s weaker than us, he doesn’t have the power to withstand the spell”.
- “For some reason, despite being an undead, he seems to be excluded from the effects of the spell, how?”
- “That’s impossible!” The third human wielding daggers said.
- The girl nodded. “Yeah, it should be impossible but here is evidence before us. We even have a God Realm monster imprisoned here, there’s no way an undead weaker than us can break the enchantment”.
- “What should we do?” The man with daggers asked.
- The lady looked at the skeleton, then she replied. “We apprehend it”.
- “Capture it, take it to the chief to diagnose how a regular undead skeleton is able to withstand the God-rank spell of the Light Emperor”.
- “Follow my lead, attack on my signal”.
- At this moment, while the humans before him said all this, Clinton did not pay attention to them at all simply because he was overwhelmed by the euphoria of the current reality being presented to him.
- After coming to terms with his new reality in the decaying forest, though Clinton tend to ignore it out of spite, he felt lonely.
- The mere thought that he may likely never meet another human left him feeling so sad that he tethered at the verge of insanity.
- The past few weeks, he felt like he was going crazy.
- Humans were social animals, even more so for a celebrity like Clinton in his previous life. To suddenly leave that life only to be plunged in a world where all he could meet were monsters with no clear signs of escape, he was losing it slowly.
- This was why at this moment on meeting humans, Clinton let his guard down.
- To him, he finally found family.
- To him, he finally found home.
- To him, he finally found his kin.
- If his skeleton body could shed tears at this moment, Clinton would already be crying as he stared at the 3 humans with raw emotion in his eyes. “I almost thought I’d never see you again”.
- “I can’t believe I met a human”.
- Hearing him speak, the humans became even more spooked as the lady spoke. “He’s strange, be at alert”.
- “Now!”
- Clinton was still in the process of processing all his heightened emotions and happiness from meeting his kin when they attacked.
- The Holy Knights simply moved as the backup; the humans attacked.
- The human with a dagger moved first and arrived first with incredible speed.
- Before Clinton could understand what was happening, the incredibly sharp fangs of the dagger were already digging into his skeleton through his neck.

- {CRITICAL HIT!}
- {Your enemy used a martial skill on you: Windpipe Crusher!}
- {You have received +5 damage!}
- {HP: 2/7}

- BAM!
- Clinton felt like his neck was just slammed by a hedge hammer.
- If he was a human, attacked in the neck in such ruthless fashion, he would already be a dead man but he was an undead creature.
- Still, Clinton was affected.
- Time seemed to move in slow motion as his eyes alternated between the system notifications before him, and the pitch-black eyes of the human now staring through his own eyes into his soul.
- Staring into those eyes, Clinton did not see what he expected to see.
- He did not see the soul affinity and camaraderie of kinship at all. Rather, what he saw was the cold gleam of a hunter hunting its prey.
- It was the simple logic of a hunter hunting a rabbit, it was natural, it was logical, it was the normal way of things.
- That was what Clinton saw in the eyes of this slim human.
- Clinton did not know why but something seemed to crack in his heart.
- Crack!
- Clinton felt heartbroken.
- Staring into the eyes of the human before him, a question rang in his mind. ‘Why?’
