Chapter 12 Old Classmates

  • The night passed in the blink of an eye.
  • Finneas glanced at Alyssa, who was still deep in slumber, before quietly rising and making his way to the bathroom.
  • He gazed at his own reflection in the mirror, a visage marked by despair and melancholy.
  • After some thought, he transformed his finger into a razor and shaved off the beard on his face. Then, he slightly trimmed his long hair.
  • After the adjustments were done, he looked completely rejuvenated and noticeably more spirited.
  • If he was once considered a brooding mister, he had now evolved into a man brimming with a mature charm.
  • In truth, Finneas was only thirty-two years old this year!
  • Because of his cultivation his appearance had hardly changed from ten years ago. If anything, he had even gained an added touch of melancholy.
  • His handsome features now carried a hint of decadence and sadness.
  • With his appearance, he was undeniably a heartthrob. As he walked down the street, he would turn heads everywhere.
  • “Back in the day, I was the campus hunk of Jacaster University! I was only slightly less attractive than book characters.”
  • A glint of brightness flashed across Finneas' eyes as he realized that he had become even more handsome after ten years.
  • At that moment, the sound of footsteps echoed from behind.
  • Alyssa was rubbing her sleepy eyes as she walked over. But the moment she saw her brother, her expression instantly cleared, filled with a mix of disbelief and shock.
  • “Finn... What's going on?”
  • “It's been a while since I've shaved or had a haircut, so I decided to give myself a quick trim.”
  • Finneas chuckled.
  • Upon hearing this, Alyssa quickly approached and playfully tilted her head as she scrutinized Finneas with a keen eye.
  • His face was handsome with distinct and sharp features.
  • His melancholic eyes were deep and mysterious, which made people get lost in them at first sight.
  • Previously, Finneas had been unkempt with a scruffy beard and long hair. She hadn't expected that with a bit of grooming, he could look this handsome!
  • “What... What's wrong?”
  • Seeing Alyssa like that, Finneas couldn't help but feel a bit nervous.
  • “Finn... You're so handsome! Even those movie stars can't compare to your good looks,” Alyssa said, smiling brightly.
  • Upon hearing those words, Finneas couldn't help but roll his eyes.
  • He thought something had happened.
  • “With a sister as beautiful as you, how can her brother not be handsome?”
  • Finneas affectionately ruffled Alyssa's hair.
  • “Cut it out. Hurry up and leave, I need to use the restroom. I'm about to burst.”
  • As Alyssa spoke, she gently nudged Finneas toward the door. Yet, her bright, clear eyes were filled with an enduring smile that couldn't be concealed.
  • After the siblings had finished their breakfast, Kelly arrived in her little pink car.
  • Last night, they decided that Alyssa should report to school that day, so Kelly came over early in the morning to pick her up.
  • “Wow, Lyssie, I can't believe you've been keeping a man in your house and enjoying him all by yourself!”
  • The moment Kelly saw Finneas, she was astonished by his looks. She looked in love instantly.
  • He is so handsome!
  • Kelly was practically drooling!
  • How is there such a handsome man in Lyssie's house?
  • “Do you not even recognize me anymore?”
  • Seeing Kelly's eagerness, a twitch involuntarily formed at the corner of Finneas' mouth.
  • “You... You are that mister from yesterday?”
  • Kelly looked utterly shocked.
  • At that moment, Alyssa came over and said cheerfully, “Who would have thought that my brother would look so handsome after shaving off his beard and getting a haircut?”
  • “Really, an older man! Ah, wow~”
  • Kelly looked at Finneas, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. She looked as if she was ready to pounce like a hungry tiger.
  • Yet, Finneas coldly extended his right hand and pressed it against her forehead.
  • Kelly kept waving her arms excitedly, exclaiming, “Mr. Finneas, you're so handsome! I want to have your children!”
  • Finneas was speechless.
  • After a moment of bantering, Finneas and Alyssa hopped into Kelly's compact car and headed toward Jacaster University.
  • Throughout the journey, Kelly chattered incessantly about the things to pay attention to when they got to school, like a little sparrow.
  • Of course, occasionally, there would be a few comments thrown in about wanting to have a baby with Finneas.
  • Finneas merely chuckled, not taking it to heart.
  • Of course, he knew that Kelly didn't really like him just because he was handsome. She was just naturally cheerful and lively.
  • Roughly forty minutes later, the car came to a halt at the entrance of Jacaster University.
  • As one of the top five prestigious universities in Daprein, Jacaster University was always bustling with people.
  • After parking her car, Kelly turned to Finneas and said, “Mr. Finneas, I'm going to take Lyssie to meet with her advisor and get her school registration done. You can explore around on your own for a bit. Once we're finished, I'll give you a call and we can all go grab something to eat together.”
  • “I'm entrusting Lyssie to you.”
  • Finneas nodded and gently ruffled Alyssa's hair.
  • Then, he added, “Keep the money I gave you safe. Don't lose it. If anything comes up, remember to call me.”
  • “All right!”
  • Alyssa obediently nodded her head.
  • With Finneas around, her heart was filled with a sense of security.
  • At that moment, Kelly said, “Ugh, the word 'entrusting' is so insincere. It lacks authenticity.”
  • Rendered speechless, Finneas responded, “So, what do you suggest I say?”
  • “Promise me we'll have kids together.”
  • Finneas was speechless.
  • As he watched the two women leave, Finneas could only helplessly shake his head.
  • Kelly was truly a peculiar girl. It was a mystery how a gentle girl like Alyssa became good friends with her.
  • They were completely on different wavelengths.
  • Subsequently, Finneas began to leisurely stroll within the premises of Jacaster University.
  • A decade ago, he had earned a place at Jacaster University due to his exceptional academic performance. He spent four memorable years there.
  • Now that he was back on campus, he couldn't help but feel a myriad of emotions as he recalled his youthful arrogance. He had a sense that things changed with the passage of time.
  • At that moment, a surprised voice echoed from behind Finneas.
  • “Finneas! Is that you?”
  • Finneas halted in his tracks. When he turned around, he saw a familiar face.
  • It was Jayson, his university classmate!
  • The relationship between the two could only be described as ordinary.
  • Back then, they even had a conflict over a basketball game.
  • However, all of that was in the past.
  • After a decade apart, he unexpectedly ran into an old classmate.
  • A tinge of nostalgia stirred within Finneas. He couldn't help smiling. He waved his hand and said, “Long time no see, old classmate!”
  • “So it really is you! I thought I had mistaken you for someone else.”
  • Jayson approached with a smile.
  • After many years apart, it seemed Jayson had been doing quite well.
  • He was dressed in a Versace white T-shirt paired with black Armani casual trousers. On his wrist, he wore a Rolex gold watch worth hundreds of thousands, exuding an aura of grandeur. At first glance, he was unmistakably a successful individual.
  • “Where have you been making your fortune these past ten years? We've all lost contact with you. You've missed several class reunions, leading everyone to believe you've struck it rich and no longer wish to associate with us, your old classmates.”
  • Jayson approached Finneas and scrutinized him. The smile on his face only widened.
  • Finneas noticed Jayson's slightly teasing gaze, but he didn't pay it much mind.
  • He responded with a smile, “To be honest, these past ten years have been pretty rough for me!”
  • “It's obvious, otherwise you wouldn't have stopped contacting us!”
  • Jayson gently patted Finneas' shoulder in the manner of a big boss.
  • “If you need help, don't hesitate to tell me! I run a listed company and I can arrange a housekeeping job for you. You can earn five thousand a month, which is enough to support yourself and your family without any issues.”
  • “Thank you, but I probably don't need it at the moment,” Finneas responded politely.
  • He knew that Jayson was showing off and flaunting, but he simply brushed it off with a laugh.
  • After a decade, everyone had changed significantly. Some had established their own families, while others had built their own careers.
  • Now that they met again, it was understandable that they wanted to compare who was doing better in life.
  • “You should understand, things aren't the same as they were ten years ago! The economic situation is tough. Even the janitorial positions in my company are flooded with applicants! The only reason I'm telling you this is because we're old classmates, otherwise, I wouldn't even bother.”
  • Jayson put his arm around Finneas' shoulders, appearing very enthusiastic.
  • Just as Finneas was about to respond, a gentle voice came from a nearby distance.
  • “Jayson, who are you talking to?”
  • Finneas shifted his gaze and saw a charming figure.
  • The woman was dressed in an off-shoulder, cream-colored long dress, her long, straight legs on display.
  • Her figure was graceful and voluptuous, with curves in all the right places, exuding elegance and mature feminine charm. As she walked, she attracted the attention of many male students.
  • Without a doubt, she was another talented businesswoman!
