Chapter 14

• "The last one." The guard says it again. I breath heavily. A knot suddenly grew in my stomach. Come to think of it, I didn't know how it would be inside those gates. I wipe my sweaty hand on my dress and then place my right hand on Emily. We then walk inside together.
• "That's the last one, my king," Emily said, her head almost hitting her knee. I also did the same but didn't bend as low as she did.
• "Smile. Veronica. Try your best to be chosen!" Emily whispers through her clenched teeth.
