Chapter 8 Pregnancy?
- Jemima experienced agitation and unease throughout her body when she heard what the old woman said to her.
- Ruby Sterling, Jerry's wife, said to Jemima, "You're still in school, right? If you get pregnant now, it will impact your academics."
- Jemima was asked if she was still in school.
- Instantaneously, Jerry nodded his head in assent and stated, "That's correct! Jemima is still young. I doubt she's eager to give up on her studies and raise a child at home!" Jerry immediately agreed.
- Silvia had perfect insight into her son and daughter-in-innermost law's thoughts.
- This was not only one of the reasons why she was so anxious about making sure Cole had an heir, but it was also the primary one.
- Jemima was questioned by Silvia with the following inquiry: "Jemmy, are you willing to have Cole's child?"
- You shouldn’t hold anything back at all. You should be aware that in the future, both you and the child will inherit the entirety of Cole's estate, which is a sizable wealth that will allow you and the child to live a life free from financial worries.”
- "I'll do it, "Without any hesitation, Jemima gave her response.
- She was prepared to use every measure necessary to prevent Eric from obtaining even a penny of Cole's money.
- Furthermore, even if she did not wish to participate, the Sterling family possessed the influence to coerce her into doing so.
- After hearing Jemima’s response, Silvia's smile was as wide as her shoulders.
- "That is really fantastic! I should have known better than to compare you to all the other foolish women out there. They believed that if Cole continued to remain sick, they would never be able to reap the benefits of the marriage! Ha! "
- As soon as the ritual of pouring tea was finished, Jemima went out of the old Sterling estate and made preparations to go back to her house.
- Eric was able to prevent her from leaving the scene.
- The sun was shining brightly in the morning, and the sound of cicadas chirping could be heard.
- When Jemima saw Eric's face for the first time, she immediately felt queasy.
- "Would you kindly take the gifts home with you, Mrs.
- Cox,". Jemima said.
- After giving a nod, Mrs. Cox took the presents and left the room.
- After he was certain that no one else was nearby, Eric then said, "You're hurting my heart, Jems! You never let me touch you the entire time we were dating, and now you've agreed to give birth to Uncle Cole's kid!!"
- "You're breaking my heart, Jems! .I really feel very bad about your decision”
- Jemima snickered as she purposefully chose phrases that would pain him and said, "Giving him a kid means getting his estate. Why wouldn't I do it?"
- Undoubtedly, Eric was in a tense state.
- "It's not a horrible idea, but you can have my kid instead and claim it's Uncle Cole's. It would still be Sterling. Even if my grandma gets angry, she would never make you abort it."
- Instantaneously, Jemima's scowl disappeared from her face.
- Jemima cautioned Eric, saying, "It's good to have ambition, but it can be a hazardous thing if you don't also have brains. Do you really think they'll let you go if they find out that I was pregnant with your child? I heard that the people by Cole's side are a ruthless bunch. As long as he's breathing, his minions will be waiting for him to wake up. I heard that the people by Cole's side are a ruthless bunch."
- Eric was shaken to his very core by Jemima's comments, which were comparable to a surge of icy water.
- He was aware, perhaps more than anybody else, of the callous nature of his uncle's people.
- After Cole's accident, they chose to keep a low profile, but this did not indicate that they had disbanded completely.
- As Eric frantically attempted to justify himself, he added, "I'm just kidding! Whether it's his or mine, the kid will still be a Sterling. When Uncle Cole dies, I'll treat his child like my own."
- Jemima heaved a sigh before continuing, "The child that your uncle has would be your cousin."
- Cedric appeared to be choking as if he had just consumed a fish bone.
- "Jems, let's not get into a fight about this right now. After Uncle Cole has passed away, we can discuss this matter further."
- "What if he never dies? Will you hold out for me until the end of time? "Jemima shot back an answer.
- Her question left Eric stunned.
- Upon observing that he was unable to respond, Jemima laughed sarcastically and stated, "I'm off. A medical professional was sent by your grandmother to check on me at your uncle's house. So,I’ll leave first."
- ……
- As soon as Jemima arrived back at Cole's estate, she was met by two medical professionals who hurriedly took her to the nearest hospital for a checkup.
- If she was ovulating at the time, they would remove the eggs from her body; otherwise, they would inject her with a hormone that would cause her to ovulate.
- "There is absolutely no need for alarm, Mrs. Sterling.
- It's possible that this will sting a little, but once Mr. Sterling's child is born to you, your place in the Sterling family will be permanently cemented!” one of the female doctors consoled the patient.
- Jemima remained still on the bed as she felt an increase in the rate of her heartbeat.
- "How much time will it take for that to become a reality?"
