Chapter 6 Escape?
- Valerie yelled at her exactly the moment that Jemima turned around to head for her room.
- "Don't believe for a second that you can run away from the Forrester family just because you've gotten married; I'm still the one who makes the decisions around here!"
- When Valerie finally dashed out of her daze, the first thing she did was to make a threat toward Jemima!
- 'Escape?
- Jemima smiled in a manner that suggested superiority.
- Jemima ignored them completely and proceeded to the upper floor of the building.
- Jemima had decided that she would not run. What she wanted was.. revenge! She was going to get her vengeance on the vile members of her family!
- Jemima had just descended one of the final stairs. Her bedroom was the gloomiest room around the bend in the hall. She carefully opened the door, but she did not go through it. She then purposefully slammed the door shut.
- Indeed, not much longer after that, two voices were heard coming from downstairs .
- "That little whore! How dare she interfere with my plans! Now, not only do we not have sufficient funding for the company, but we have also angered Mister Penty! " Valerie let out a sigh and a curse directed at Jemima.
- "Mom, don't worry about it. I've already had a conversation with Collins today.”
- Shirley immediately pretended to be the obedient daughter helping her mother out by pretending that her friend as going to assist with the funding.
- She wanted to convince her mother to support her future decision, and in order to do that, she needed to be on good terms with her.
- "Amazing! We are so fortunate to have Shirley. You are the only one who can assist our family at this time. If Francis finds out about everything, we won't stand a chance”.
- It was a shame that Shirley could not bring Jemima, that b*tch, down that day. Why did Jemima all of a sudden turn smart? Shirley's eyes gleamed coldly as she smiled in a manner that was merely ceremonial.
- Shirley's facial expressions became more subdued, and she furrowed her brows while looking at Valerie.
- "No matter what happens, we are still a powerful family, Mom, I told her. Isn't it a little strange for Jemmy to get married to some random guy she found on the streets? "
- When Jemima was mentioned, Valerie's response was immediate and icily harrumphed: "I will find out the truth about this! I will track down that other man and convince them to divorce each other! "
- Shirley immediately accompanied her words and said, "Hmm, for the sake of Jemmy's happiness, we need to figure out what's going on here," while beaming with excitement.
- Jemima furrowed her brows as she listened to their conversation from the upper floor, where she was located.
- Jemima was no longer engaged in the conversations they were having.
- She carefully opened the door and then went back to her room to finish packing her belongings.
- Shirley’s mug grin could be heard coming from downstairs.
- ******
- On that same evening, Jemima was delivered to Cole's residence.
- It was over 200 million dollars and was situated in the most affluent part of the city's central business district.
- Mrs. Cox had dragged Jemima all the way to the master bedroom before she had a chance to properly take in the layout of the mansion.
- Her eyes went straight to the man lying on the expansive bed. She approached him slowly while paying close attention to his appearance.
- On his chiseled face, Cole's deep-set features stood out, and he emanated a majestic aura of nobility.
- His complexion was unusually pale because he spent so much time indoors, but his handsome face made it impossible to take one's eyes off of him.
- Jemima never would have been able to be his wife if he had not been afflicted with illness.
- Cole was a powerful figure in the nation of Daeho before the car accident that left him bedridden and unable to move around the country.
- The Sterling Corporation, which he headed, was consistently ranked as one of the top ten corporations in the country.
- It was said that he was ruthless and tyrannical, and that he ran a legal company in addition to having business dealings with the criminal underworld.
- Anyone who went against him would inevitably incur a significant cost.
- Jemima had never in her wildest dreams imagined that she would one day marry a man like him.
- While she was absentmindedly pondering, the door to the bedroom opened.
- That would be Eric!.
- He learned about his new Aunty in law from his grandmother, Mrs. Silvia Sterling, and he made a beeline all the way over here to look for her.
- Eric approached Jemima with a fake expression of sincerity on his face and pretended to apologize to her before saying, "i’m sorry, Jems! i was too busy today and just managed to come to see you."
- Jemima's tone was icy as she retorted, "I just married your uncle just now. Do I need to teach you how to address me?"
- "I'm aware of how hard it’s been for you. I didn't want to cause you any additional stress in your life, so I decided against running away with you. Since Uncle is so inactive, you won't have to do much work for him while you're married to him because he's practically dead. When he passes away, I'll hire a reputable attorney and see to it that you get your fair share of his estate! "
- Jemima's hands were eagerly grabbed by Eric, and he exclaimed, "When that happens, everything he has will be ours!"
- "
- When Jem thought back to the earlier interaction she had seen between Eric and Shirley, she experienced an overwhelming feeling of revulsion.
- "Let go! " she yelled as she ripped his hands away from her with great force.
- Eric was taken aback by her startling wail and wondered whether or not this was the same Jemima he once knew.
- Jemima was always calm and considerate toward him, and she never raised her voice to him in any circumstance. Could she have found out about something?
- Eeic experienced a glimmer of guilt and drew nearer Moved to Jemima in the hopes of providing some explanations to her.
- The following instant, he turned his attention to something that was behind Jemima. His pupils dilated in astonishment as if he had just witnessed the appearance of a ghost.
- Eric stutteringly said, "He... He..."
- Cole, who was still lying in bed, gradually opened his eyes as he continued to do so.
