Chapter 7 Her New Husband

  • When illuminated by the light from the crystal chandelier, Cole's jet-black eyes took on an appearance that was alluring and menacing.
  • It was always a stare that sent shivers down one's spine, and this time was no different.
  • As Eric took a couple of stumbling steps back, his face gradually lost all of its color.
  • "Jems... I mean, Aunt Jemima... It's late, so I won't bother you and Uncle Cole!"
  • As he hurried out of the room in a panic, Eric was covered in a drenching perspiration the whole time.
  • As Jemima witnessed his frantic flight from the scene, her own body started trembling violently, and her heart became increasingly tense.
  • Was Cole awake? Was it not that he had a little time to pass away?
  • She made her way toward him with the intention of speaking to him, but she could not find her voice. She desperately wanted to see through the floser, but she couldn't since her feet were stuck to the ground.
  • She couldn't help but retreat as a wave of horror rushed over her, and she ran toward the stairs as soon as she could get there.
  • She yelled after Mrs. Cox, "Mrs. Cox! Cole's awake! He opened his eyes!"
  • After hearing Jemima's voice, Mrs. Cox hastened her way up the staircase.
  • "Master Cole opens his eyes every day, Madam, but that doesn't mean he's awake. Look, he's not responding to anything we're saying right now," Mrs. Cox said to the woman. "He's not responding to anything we're saying right now." She then heaved a sigh and said, "The doctors have said that there's a very minimal likelihood for someone who is in a vegetative state to wake up."
  • Jemima, who continued to experience a nagging sense of unease, expressed her apprehension by asking, "Can I leave the lights on at night? I'm a bit worried."
  • "Of course" Mrs. Cox said. "I'll wake you up in the morning, but you should get some rest soon because tomorrow you have a tour scheduled at the ancient Sterling estate.”
  • Jemima retorted, "Okay," in response.
  • After Mrs. Cox had left the room, Jemima went to her room, changed into her pajamas, and then went to bed.
  • She sat rigidly next to Cole and focused her attention on his gorgeous features. She showed him her palm by stretching it out and waving it in front of his face.
  • She questioned Cole, "What's on your mind, Cole?" but he did not respond to her question.
  • Jemima had a sharp twinge of melancholy at that moment.
  • Her personal suffering was insignificant when weighed against what he had to go through.
  • "I hope you wake up soon, Cole. If that scumbag Eric gets his cold, slimy paws on all of your money, you won't be able to die in peace.I hope you wake up soon, Cole."
  • After that, Cole made a deliberate effort to close his eyes.
  • Jemima just stood there, staring at him in disbelief as her heart started pounding wildly in her chest.
  • Even though they are in a vegetative state, some people are nonetheless conscious. Could he have possibly heard it? What did she just say?
  • She laid down next to him, unable to shake the uneasy feeling she was having. After a while, she became aware that she was making her own sighing sound.
  • Now that she was Mrs. Sterling, nobody would bother her anymore, at least not for the time being.
  • When Cole passed away, the Sterling family would have to figure out how to deal with her. Jemima felt a constriction in her chest as the notion occurred to her.
  • She was forced to make use of the power that came with becoming Cole's wife in order to reclaim everything that she had lost while Cole was still alive.
  • Everyone who had ever treated her unfairly in the past would have to pay the price!
  • ****
  • On the following day, around ten o'clock in the morning, Mrs. Jemima was accompanied by Cox on their trip to the ancient Sterling home, where Cole's mother, Silvia Sterling, resides.
  • When Jemima arrived, the Sterling family as a whole was gathered in the living room, and she proceeded to meet and offer drinks to each individual member of the family.
  • Jemima's etiquette seems to have won Silvia's approval. A child that is willing to submit to authority would be simple to manage.
  • "How did you sleep last night, Jemima ?" inquired Silvia .
  • Jemima's face reddened as she attempted to convey that she was doing "very well."
  • "How was Cole? He didn't cause you any trouble, did he?"
  • Jemima recalled Cole's attractive but unresponsive face and stated in a sympathetic tone, "He didn't move at all. It didn't upset me." Jemima was referring to Cole's lack of movement.
  • Even though he wasn't moving, his body temperature was still quite high. She used her to prop herself up while she slept, using him as a pillow.
  • When she awoke in the middle of the night and realized what she was doing, it took her a while to gather her composure.
  • "Jemmy, I have something that I want to give you." Jemima was handed a purple gift box by Silvia as she opened it up and made the announcement.
  • "This bracelet looks great with your complexion; let me know if you decide to keep it."
  • Jemima did not have the courage to turn down the gift that the elderly lady offered her in front of the rest of the family, so she accepted it right away.
  • "I do. Thank you."
  • Silvia proceeded to explain her scheme to Jemima by saying, "I realize things are tough for you, Jemima. With Cole the way he is today, he can't treat you well. However, there's a way for you to gain from all of this." Silvia said this as she acknowledged the difficulties that Jemima was experiencing.
  • "There is not much time left for Cole. He never had the opportunity to date because he was so preoccupied with his career. Even the possibility of having a child of his own was beyond his reach..."
  • After hearing Silvia's statements, Jemima's posture became more rigid.
  • Has he got n a kid of his own?
  • Was it possible that Silvia was considering having her give him a child?
  • When will Cole's child be born?
  • "I'll like you to give Cole a child and continue his bloodline," Silvia said as she finished. "I'll give you my blessing in advance."
  • Jemima was dumbfounded, and everyone else in the room appeared to be experiencing the same level of astonishment as she was.
  • Jerry Sterling, Cole's oldest brother, told Cole's mother, saying "Mother, Cole has been sick for a while. It's likely that he's infertile." Jerry is the eldest of the Sterling brothers.
  • Even though Cole had not passed away just yet, everyone immediately had their sights set on his estate.
  • Then, with a grin, Silvia continued, "Obviously, I have a few aces under my sleeve when it comes to dealing with the medical professionals. Given the size of Cole's inheritance, it seems inconceivable that he does not have a legitimate heir. I will have Jemima conceive a kid for Cole. Even a daughter would be acceptable.”
  • At that same instant, the focus of everyone's attention was drawn to Jemima .
