Chapter 6 Between Life And Death

• "Each GROUP, Mrs. Vice President," Gabi says to Alicia, "Mr. Raul Jones says he's been trying to call you, but you're not answering your phone."
• "Oh, I forgot to take it with me from the apartment, Gabi. What did he say?"
• "He wants to have lunch with you."
• "Oh, I see. Tell him it's fine and ask for the time and place."
• "Yes, ma'am," says Gabriela as she leaves the office.
• "Good morning again, Mr. Jones. Vice President Alicia DuPont sends word that she accepts the invitation for lunch. Can you please provide the location and time? She forgot her cell phone, which is why she hasn't been answering your calls." As Gabriela spoke with her back turned, a man's face turned black with fury and jealousy.
• "How dare you, Raul, try to flirt with my wife? That's audacious and a mistake on your part," Kevin said as he left the Vice Presidency. Upon reaching his area, he instructed his assistant to connect him with Carlos Maros. "Yes, sir," his assistant replied.
• In the CEO's office, Kevin's secret man sat at his desk. "Tell me, Mr. DuPont, what am I good for?"
• "Destroy the Maserati group, sir."
• "But that's very dangerous. It will take us 2 months to destroy the Jones. Are you prepared?"
• "I don't care," Kevin replied before his trusted man could finish speaking. "I want Raul to understand that setting his sights on Kevin DuPont's wife has consequences."
• Carlos's eyes widened. "So, this isn't about business. It's about a woman?"
• "If Jones were smart, he wouldn't have set his eyes on Miss Anita. But everything has consequences," the man thought to himself. "I also want you to investigate Raul's intentions with my wife thoroughly."
• The man pondered, "What now?" "Don't look at me like that," Kevin said. "Raul is in love with Alicia. Or at least that's how it appears."
• "Sir, are you doing all of this for Miss Alicia?" the man asked, surprised and confused.
• "Yes, she's my wife, and no man can touch her or have her."
• "I understand, sir," Carlos replied. "I'll await my next call."
• Carlos left his boss's office with a smile. Who would have thought Kevin would react this way because of Alicia? But love is like that.
• At noon, an Aston Martin stopped in front of CAD GROUP, and the CEO of the Maserati Group was waiting for the lovely Alicia. "Hello, Raul. I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long."
• "No, I just arrived, Ali," Raul replied as they headed to their lunch destination. Through a large window overlooking the city, Kevin DuPont watched as Raul opened the passenger door for his wife to get into his car and drive away with him.
• "Damn it, Alicia, what have you done to me? Why can't I get you out of my thoughts for a single damn second? Why can't I stand to see another man touch your skin, and the beast threatens to emerge at the sight of those actions," Kevin exclaimed, throwing his wine glass against the wall.
• Somewhere in the region, a man picked up his phone and dialed a number.
• "Good morning, Alicia Bonet went to lunch with Raul Jones at a restaurant."
• "Perfect, cut the brakes of the car. I don't want any mistakes in this."
• "Of course, it will be done. Oh, and I'll also inform the reporters that Kevin DuPont's wife had an accident with her lover, none other than Raul Jones, CEO of the Maserati group."
• "Excellent work. You'll get your payment once the job is done."
• "Thank you for lunch, I owed it to you for Kevin's wrongdoings toward you."
• "Do you love him that much, Alicia, to defend him?"
• "Kevin is my husband by law, and that's what a wife does."
• "Alicia," Raul whispered again, "but he doesn't love you. He doesn't even notice you; he only has eyes for your cousin."
• "Raul, that's our business. It has nothing to do with you or anyone else."
• "I'm sorry, Alicia. You know I love you. I always have, and my feelings will never change. I hope they separate so I can fight for a chance."
• "Raul, it's very early, don't ruin the friendship." Alicia repeats to him.
• "For you, Alicia, I won't touch the subject as long as you remain married, I will respect that boundary", with those words Raul opens the car door and Alicia gets in.
• After a few minutes of driving on the road, on the way to the DuPont family company, Raul notices some anomaly in his car, "Damn it, Alicia, please fasten your seatbelt, the car has lost its brakes."
• "What are you saying?" Alicia asks, not able to process the news, without time for a response, a strong impact shakes the road, bystanders approach to offer help.
• In sight, a JEEP truck collided with an Aston Martin, the latter suffered more consequences, the driver opens the door and exits completely covered in blood, and falls to the asphalt, but before that he whispers, call and contact Kevin DuPont or CAD GROUP, tell them that his wife has had an accident.
• On the other hand, a man tries to open the passenger door, as a woman is completely covered in blood, her face and body, 10 minutes later the ambulance arrives and transports them, sir, what is the condition of the accident victims to inform their families, we have already located them.
• The young man is less injured, but the woman is between life and death, the impact was stronger on her side.
• In the offices of CAD GROUP, Kevin was in a meeting when his assistant entered the office unannounced, Kevin frowns, but knows that something is wrong.
• "Sir, Mrs. Alicia has just suffered a terrible traffic accident, she is between life and death according to the reports I was given."
• "What are you saying?" Kevin says, experiencing fear of losing Alicia and the urge to cry, he doesn't say goodbye to his employees, just grabs his jacket and asks Araceli where they were taking her.
• "Sir, to the Müller Family Hospital." Kevin quickly dials David's number, "Prepare your most skilled staff and do everything in your power to save her life, David." Damn it, Kevin thinks,
• "Do you think I would let something happen to her, she's 1 minute away from me, come as fast as you can, Kevin."
• Kevin drives his truck passing several red lights until he finally sees the hospital, he quickly enters.
• He speaks at the reception where he is quickly given information that Alicia is undergoing surgery, as the mirror was embedded in her abdomen in the rough impact and surgery is needed to remove it, also the blow to the head.
• Meanwhile, outside the hospital, a group of reporters inform that Alicia DuPont, wife of Kevin DuPont the richest and most powerful man, had a traffic accident with her lover Raul Jones, CEO of the Maserati group.
• "Are you watching the news, sir?" Carlos asks Kevin on the phone. "What's on the news?" he asks, "It says that Mrs. Alicia had an accident with her lover."
• "Damn it," Kevin shouts, hangs up the phone, and goes to ask if there is another injured person in that traffic accident, and indeed Raul Jones was with her at that moment.
• Indescribable fury takes hold of him, and as he is about to leave the hospital, David comes out with his blood-stained gown, Kevin's heart aches to know that it was his blood, the blood of the woman he had an accident with while she was with another man.
• "What the hell is wrong with you, Kevin, you were about to leave," David says, somewhat annoyed. "She needs blood to continue and it will arrive in 2 hours, I only have 45 minutes or she will die, Kevin, you are a match."
• At that moment, Kevin smiles maliciously and agrees to donate blood, but no one knew that deep down he was thinking of revenge.
• "Put this on," David says, handing him a gown, and they enter the operating room, but little did Kevin DuPont know that seeing her like that would make him wish it was him lying in that bed, his heart pounding with pain, he approached her and whispered, "You have to recover, you have to get through this, do you hear me, Alicia DuPont."
• They began the blood transfusion, when at one point the other doctor says, "We're losing her, the patient has entered a coma state," Kevin suffered inside, not wanting to accept it, the woman's face was becoming paler, and the hand he was holding became cold, Kevin knew this was the end, but David didn't give up and in one last effort brought her back to life, the blood donation was a success, she was already out of critical condition at that moment.
• "Thank you David, thank you for saving her," were Kevin's words to his cousin.
• "Don't worry Kevin, she is also my friend."
