• The gunfire continued , the air was thick with the acrid smell of gunpowder and smoke, choking every breath. I clutched Samantha's trembling hand like a lifeline, pulling her through the chaos. My men formed a protective circle around us, their bodies shields against the relentless hail of bullets. Every step toward the house felt like an eternity, each movement a desperate battle against time. My father needed me, but before I could save him, I had to ensure Samantha and our unborn child were safe. If I failed them, there would be no reason to fight.
