• I chuckled, shaking my head as I kept my eyes on Madame Elena. The amusement I felt was thin, barely masking the edge of tension beneath. "What happens next?" I mocked, my voice low but sharp. "Is that supposed to be a threat?"
• Madame Elena’s lips curved into a slow, venomous smile. Her eyes gleamed with a dangerous light as she studied me. "You're clever enough to figure it out, Jack. Surely, I don’t need to spell it out for you." Her words were a taunt, but I could hear the simmering warning underneath.
