  • The next few days were a blur of preparations, with security tightened around every corner of our lives. The penthouse, once our sanctuary, was no longer safe, so we had to relocate to my family estate on the outskirts of the city. Sisco had doubled the guards, and any packages that arrived were scanned twice before being allowed through the gates. Despite the precautions, there was an uneasiness in the air-a lingering tension that no amount of security could fully erase. I could feel Samantha's fear, even though she tried to mask it with a brave face.
  • We'd decided to hold a small ceremony on the grounds of my family's private estate, a secluded place far from the city's chaos. Here, the Gambinos would be less likely to reach us. Only our closest family members and Sisco, along with the rest of my father's men acting as security, would be present. I hated that it had to be this way-that our wedding, a moment that should have been filled with joy, was instead more of a fortress than a celebration. But I knew it was the only way to protect her-and our unborn child.
