Chapter 8 Brian's Girlfriend

  • Jennifer's POV:
  • "Get up, change your clothes, and do your makeup. We're going on a shopping spree today to blow off some steam. After today, you will completely erase that j*rk from your life!"
  • It was the third day after my breakup, and Daisy barged into my room. She dragged me out of bed and forced me to get dressed and do my makeup.
  • We headed to the mall closest to my house. Our group ran the mall. We wandered around the women's clothing section. In the past, I had Claude bring my handmade crafts to sell here since he managed this mall. Just thinking about Claude made me want to run away, but Daisy held me firmly in place.
  • I knew she was trying to help me move on, so even though I wanted to leave, I stayed.
  • Aimlessly browsing through clothes, Daisy quickly accumulated bags of her shopping spoils while I didn't buy a thing. I simply wasn't in the mood.
  • Suddenly, I saw them—Claude and Maya—hand in hand, looking incredibly intimate. Without me, their relationship had apparently become public.
  • Daisy followed my gaze, and her expression turned furious.
  • Just as she was about to say something, Claude and Maya noticed us.
  • "Well, isn't this a surprise?" Maya's voice came at me, sharp and mocking. "Jennifer, I didn't expect to see you out and about so soon. I guess it didn't take long for you to get over your little heartbreak."
  • Her mocking voice pierced me.
  • Maya's words hit where it hurt most, but there was no way I would let her see how much pain I was in. Not in front of these two. They didn't deserve it.
  • Before I could speak, Daisy stepped in front of me, shielding me from them.
  • "Oh, it's you, Maya. How's it feel to be a homewrecker?" Daisy spat, her face twisting in disgust.
  • Maya's expression faltered for a second before anger flashed across her face. "Daisy, watch your mouth. Claude and I are truly in love. If it weren't for Jennifer, we'd have been together ages ago!"
  • Daisy rolled her eyes and made a disgusted expression. "Oh, please, spare me. That's exactly what homewreckers say. True love? Bullshit! More like trashy lust. Stealing your best friend's fiancé—deep down, you're just rotten to the core."
  • Maya glared at Daisy, baring her fangs. "Who are you calling a homewrecker? Daisy, you'd better make yourself clear!"
  • "I think the person I'm calling a homewrecker knows exactly who she is."
  • Daisy snarled back, baring her own teeth as she grabbed Maya by the throat. Daisy shoved her against the wall, looking like she might rip her apart any second.
  • Like me, Maya was an Omega, but she had her wolf and could shift—though not nearly as strong as Daisy. Under Daisy's dominance, she was trembling.
  • "Claude, help me!" Maya whimpered.
  • She turned to Claude with tears in her eyes.
  • Claude's face tightened with concern. His protective instincts kicked in as he bared his own teeth and growled at Daisy. "Let her go, Daisy!"
  • Seeing him defend Maya like that made my heart clench painfully. Fighting the urge to cry, I grabbed Daisy's arm and pulled her away. I didn't want her getting hurt because of me. However, Claude wasn't ready to let things go.
  • "Your friend Daisy just said some pretty harsh things to Maya. Don't you think she should apologize?" Claude's cold gaze bored into me. His emotionless voice sliced through the tension.
  • Looking at his emotionless face, it felt like my heart was being ripped apart. The man who once cared for me was now standing here, demanding an apology for someone else. I felt like a complete fool.
  • "Daisy didn't say anything wrong," I snapped, unable to hold back anymore. "You cheated on me, Claude! You lied to me for seven years, and now you expect my friend to apologize to some lowlife? On what grounds, Claude? What right do you have to ask that of me?"
  • "Jennifer, why are you yelling? Who would ever want someone like you? You're a worthless Omega with no wolf. No man would ever love you!"
  • Maya sneered as she clung to Claude's arm, her tone dripping with arrogance. "And by the way, do you think Claude enjoyed wearing those boxers you made him? No. He was just using that as an excuse to send you away so we could ... you know."
  • What? So that's what it was? That's why Claude kept asking for new boxers every few days?
  • I should have been furious, but instead, I felt oddly calm. My heart had already died. I was completely done with him. He was nothing more than a deceitful lowlife.
  • As for Maya, she was no better than Claude. She knew how much I loved him. Back when we were still friends, we talked about Claude all the time.
  • I used to think of her as my best friend. Every time she asked about him, I thought she was just concerned about me, so I never held back. Now, looking back, I realize how foolish I was. She didn't care about me at all. She only asked because she wanted him for herself. She was trying to seduce Claude from the very start.
  • "Jennifer has plenty of guys who would love her! It's just that Claude, the scumbag, had his brain clouded by greed, so he ended up with a pathetic wolf like you!"
  • Daisy fired back, unable to stand Maya's smugness any longer.
  • "Oh, really?" Maya sneered. "She has men interested in her? Well then, call one of them over. I'd love to see what kind of guy would fall for someone as worthless as Jennifer. Can't do it, huh? I knew it—no one could ever love her."
  • Her mocking tone struck me like a punch to the gut as she stared down at me with smug satisfaction.
  • She was probably feeling pretty proud of herself right now. My former fiancé had now become her man.
  • I didn't want to engage with her any further. I just wanted to walk away, but Maya wasn't done. She grabbed my arm, stopping me in my tracks.
  • "Maya, don't push it! You've already gotten what you wanted. Isn't that enough?"
  • I spun around, glaring at her, anger simmering in my chest. She had gone way too far.
  • Just as Maya was about to say something else, I noticed a man standing not far away. It was Brian.
  • Daisy spotted him too. She waved her hand eagerly and said, "Hey, Brian! Your girlfriend's being bullied over here—are you going to let this slide?"
