Chapter 39 Realization
- Even though it’s only two towns away, it still took her six hours of driving. She was too slow as she’s just a beginner. It’s different when he’s there to assist her and correct her mistakes. Right now, she’s not confident and was driving as fast as she could tolerate. She would probably run faster in her wolf form. But of course, she can’t run for as long as a vehicle is able. She checked the gas level, it’s good that they filled it up earlier. After a while, she would often glance at Conrad’s figure. He’s facing away from her so she couldn’t see his face.
- “Conrad?” She would sometimes call his name and when he grunts in reply, she’s assured that he’s still good.
- She tried hard to rein in her emotions. She needed to focus. One thing persisted in her mind, though. She wouldn’t be able to accept it if he died tonight. She wouldn’t feel worthy to have his sacrifice just to protect her. She can’t lose him.
