Chapter 6 The Eatery Where He Worked
- “You’re right, I picked it up!” Tang Yin replied.
- “You’re so pathetic! Do you think that by using other people’s stuff to boast, it would change the fact that you’re a loser?”
- Tang Yin couldn’t help but feel sad when he saw that text, so he kept his phone away.
- The Tang Yin now couldn’t be bothered by what Ruan Qin thought anymore; he wouldn’t care even if she didn’t mind that he picked it up. She was like a small part of a nightmare to him now. Since he had woken up from it, there wasn’t any reason to dwell too much on it.
- Tang Yin kept his phone and scanned the dorm room. After seeing that most of them were already asleep, he lay back down and fell into slumber too.
- At dawn, his phone vibrated again.
- Tang Yin accepted the call and Lin Chuchu’s accusing voice could be heard.
- “Tang Yin, do you know what time it is now? What are you trying to do? I’ll give you ten minutes. If you don’t arrive before that, I will deduct half of your salary this month, and don’t you ever think about getting it back!”
- Tang Yin hurriedly sat up and eyed his clock. It was already ten in the morning.
- It was a Sunday today. According to the eatery’s rules, he should be there early in the morning until late at night.
- “I will reach in ten minutes!” Tang Yin yelled and rushed to the bathroom to wash up.
- Although he bickered with Lin Chuchu yesterday, his half a month’s salary was still at risk, and he didn’t want his efforts to go down the drain.
- Exactly ten minutes later, Tang Yin arrived at the eatery at the west side of his university.
- Lin Chuchu was a gorgeous girl who had smooth silky hair as well as rosy cheeks. She wore a pink short-sleeved top as well as a red mini-skirt along with a pair of pink adorable flip-flops today. Sitting at the entrance of the eatery, she swung her legs as she glared disdainfully at Tang Yin who came running.
- Looking at her appearance, it was obvious that she deserved to be crowned the prettiest girl of the department due to her cute and petite looks.
- “What time is it?” Lin Chuchu went up to him when he came over. She had one hand on her hip and the other pointing at Tang Yin as she taunted, “Do you still want this job or not? Tell me now if you don’t! We are not here to spoil your sorry a**! Waking up at this hour? Do you really think that you’re a Young Master now?”
- Tang Yin chuckled awkwardly. “I had a little too much to drink yesterday…”
- “Who allowed you to drink? Don’t you know that you have work today?” Lin Chuchu glared at Tang Yin with disgust and said, “Can you even afford to go drinking with others? Do you think that you can flirt with other girls now that you earned a little money for yourself? Why don’t you take a look in the mirror instead? I can’t believe you thought that going out drinking was a great idea!”
- Tang Yin was so used to her mockings by now that it didn’t bother him anymore.
- “He’s still young. It’s normal to go out and drink at his age. Who hasn’t been young after all?” Lin Chuchu’s father, Lin Cheng, came out from the eatery.
- Tang Yin smiled. If there was any reason for him to stay back at the eatery, this man named Lin Cheng would be his only reason.
- Back when he had nothing and no money to pay for food, Lin Cheng saw right through his awkwardness and made him stay at the eatery to help out so that he was able to fend for himself. If it weren’t for Lin Cheng, he would have ended up starving to death!
- “Come on in! It’s gonna be a busy day today!” Lin Cheng chuckled and waved Tang Yin over.
- Tang Yin hesitated before turning into the eatery.
- Lin Chuchu rolled her eyes before smirking. “What a poor loser. Knowing that you have no money, you can’t help coming over to beg for a job and food, am I right?”
- “Stop it!” Lin Cheng sighed.
- “Dad, whose side are you on? He can fend for himself now anyway, so why are you still helping him?” Lin Chuchu stomped her feet on the ground and ran back into the eatery.
- Tang Yin didn’t say much. He turned back and looked at Lin Cheng who was laughing wryly before he hurriedly rushed into the eatery to help with washing the vegetables.
- The eatery was founded by both Lin Cheng and his wife, Wu Min. They weren’t from Wuhan, but they moved here from their small city and opened an eatery after Lin Chuchu enrolled in Wuhan University.
- After Tang Yin finished washing the vegetables, he took them into the kitchen and ran into Wu Min who just came down from upstairs, looking like she was in a bad mood.
- “Tang Yin, since you’re late, I won’t be able to pay you your full salary for the day!” Wu Min was wearing an apron while holding a rag. Even though she was almost forty years old, she still retained her graceful bearing. At that moment, she looked at Tang Yin coldly. “You can’t blame me for this. We have to be reasonable after all. We must follow the rules now, don’t we?”
- Tang Yin laughed dryly. “Yes!”
- “Alright. Get upstairs and clean all the tables. Remember to wipe it cleaner, I don’t want to receive any complaints from customers!” Wu Min threw the rag in her hand in Tang Yin’s direction before taking off her apron while glaring at him in disgust.
- Tang Yin took over the rag. Looking at it in his hand, he felt nauseated.
- This mother and daughter duo were from the same mould, and none of them had any sense of humanity.
- After finishing his work at the eatery for today, he would have to inform Lin Cheng that he won’t be coming back anymore. If anything, he would just have to look after them more in the future as a method of paying back Lin Cheng’s kindness.
- “What are you looking at? Don’t you have to go up now?” Lin Chuchu glared at Tang Yin.
- Tang Yin then turned around and went up.
- Around noon, three male students left Wuhan University and ran to the eatery.
- All of them were well-dressed and just from one look, it was obvious that their clothes were expensive. From their behavior, it was clear that they weren’t ordinary people.
- Wu Min’s eyes brightened up when she saw the three of them. She then nudged Lin Chuchu who was lazing around. “Get up and serve them! All three of them look like they are loaded! What are you still waiting for?”
- Lin Chuchu’s head shot up. Her face was buzzing with excitement as she pulled off her best smile. “Welcome to our eatery, please be seated here…”
- Tang Yin shook his head when he noticed how Lin Chuchu acted. She looks just like a gold digger; it must be hard for her to change her facial expressions every time she sees someone rich.
- “What is nice here?” The leader of the three guys was handsome and charismatic.
- Lin Chuchu rushed to serve and recommend them food when she realized that they were rich. Her chirpy voice was surprisingly pleasing to hear.
- “Serve us the first eight dishes, and I want the best wine that you guys have too!”
- “Alright, they’ll be right up!” Lin Chuchu said while grinning. However, her face immediately darkened when she turned around and saw Tang Yin. “What are you still doing here? Why haven’t you cleaned the table yet? Are you jealous because they’re rich?”
- Tang Yin was too tired to defend himself at this point. He shook his head and turned around, leaving to clean the tables on the other side.
- Lin Chuchu pouted. “What a loser…”
- Tang Yin raised his head and gave her a look before frowning.
- After ten minutes or more, Lin Cheng had already finished cooking all the dishes. Then, Lin Chuchu carried them out herself to serve them with her pleasing look plastered over her face.
- The few guys were staring at Lin Chuchu intently, their eyes never leaving her mini-skirt.
- Tang Yin frowned as he watched on. Just then, he heard one of them saying, “Chu Hao, what do we do next? The girl is so pretty! Why don’t we try taking her down first?”
- “Of course, how would we get her if we don’t take her down first?” Chu Hao snickered.
- Tang Yin’s heart tightened when he overheard them. Instantly, his gaze turned cold.
