Chapter 5
- ALPHA'S HATED MATE
- Santiago’s POV
- I haven’t seen Adrian all day and he hasn’t returned any of my calls and text messages which could only mean one thing, he is in one of his little moods and wants no one to disturb him.
- He seems to be going through a rough patch lately, he is always in a bad mood which is not new for Adrian he gets pissed off very easily but this is different. I’ve seen him and whatever he is going through he doesn’t know how to fix it and he won’t ask for help.
- Sitting here in the kitchen with Mirabelle and Racheal I can’t help but worry about him. Adrian knows how to run a pack with ease. He could kill someone with his bare hands faster than anyone I know and taking care of his little sister and pack that he can do but manage his emotions? No Adrian has no clue and whatever is bothering him right now is an emotional matter and if he doesn’t fix it real soon I will be cleaning up way too many bodies for my liking and he-
- “Tiago, Why didn’t you guys pick us today?” My little sister, Racheal cuts through my thoughts.
- “I know right I’ve been praying for that ever since the incident with Raquel. She thinks we’re good but I can't be with her.” Belle snickers.
- Adrian and I have different views on how to protect our sisters, I find it effective to let Racheal learn from experience because she is stubborn but Adrian won’t let Mirabelle learn anything by experience he will just tell it to her and she’ll think he’s overreacting and rebel against him, because it’s what she does, no harm no problem that’s their motto.
- Racheal pauses, setting her spoon down. “Hey where is Adrian?”
- “Yea where is he? He's acting strange, I mean he is always serious but today he seems extra pissed. Who took his toys away.” Belle frowns, her tone suggests she’s humoured but she’s seriously worried about him and so am I.
- “I don’t know Moon.” I truthfully say, “Let me go and see what he’s up to. I am not in the mood to dispose of any more bodies than I have today.”
- “Wait bodies? Who the fuck did he kill? ” Belle hisses.
- “Nobody that didn’t deserve it but his killing spree might get out of hand you know how he gets when he is this angry.” I tell her getting up.
- The first place I look for Adrian is where he is. I can tell by the piercing screams and plea’s echoing the dungeon that he has lost it. The smell of blood lingering in the place gets stronger and stronger as I walk further in.
- I pass the cells and there he is, No shirt and combat boots on his feet, mercilessly taking a swing at one of the warrior’s from Alpha Vinny’s pack. The man just stared at his sister for two minutes and now he has him captive. I have tried to vouch for his release but Adrian and his ‘instincts’ decided he had the worst intentions with her and since Alpha Vinny worships Adrian, he let him have his way, they all do.
- “That’s enough!” I yell, but my voice goes unheard and I watch him, he needs to get this out of his system.
- He continues to hit the man not even when his pleading stops and his cries die out does he stop hitting him. When the man crashes to the floor next to Adrian’s feet, that’s when he stops. Judging by the blood on Adrian, you’d think he too is hurt but I know him well enough to know that’s not his blood except the one on his knuckles.
- When he notices the man is dead, he looks between the body and me. “What was that?”
- “What was what?” He growls.
- “All he did was stare at Belle and you brought him in. You said you just wanted to scare him, well you killed him.” I say gesturing to the dead body at his feet.
- He runs a hand through his messy hair, “Santiago I –”
- “No, no, what you are is out of control. What is going on with you?” I ask calmly.
- He grabs his shirt off the floor. “Nothing, just get rid of him.” He tells the guard, referring to the body. Wiping his hands clean he leaves. Just great, it is time to face the consequences there’s none. Well at least he didn’t zone out, he was conscious of his actions.
- I give him time to wash off the blood before I follow him to his room. When I get there, he’s done and changed. “What’s going on with you?”
- “Let it go, there is nothing going on.” He growls.
- I toss myself on his bed, resting on my elbows, “Let it go? You have been acting strange since the party, that’s three weeks now. And you just keep getting worse than you already are, and that day we went to pick Belle and Rae, all color drained from your face. You looked pale for a moment. I didn’t want to say anything but since you won’t talk to me about it, I am here to ask.”
- “Ahh!” He screams, throwing his phone to the wall, we both watch it land, broken into pieces. “Hunter is driving me crazy.”
- “What’s up with your wolf now?” I snort.
- “He wants his mate.”
- Is that all? Honestly, Adrian and his Wolf are the worst match, they're not exactly alike, and his Wolf is strong enough to overpower him most times. “That’s nothing new there is nothing we can do. We have gone to way too many places and we haven’t encountered her yet. I mean I get why my Wolf would be mad because I’ve met my mate but I let her go away but you, I mean it’s not like you’ve met her.”
- He doesn’t give me an answer, instead he swipes his nose and shakes his head, now avoiding eye contact with me. I finally sat up, “It’s not like you know where she’s at right? Adrian, I am asking you a question!”
- He shakes his head, “No. I don’t know where she is.”
- “You are lying to me Adrian.”
- “I only met her okay! Is that what you want to hear?” He admit’s.
- kicked my feet to the ground, my jaw dropping to the floor. “You met your mate and didn’t tell me? You didn’t brag, are you freaking kidding me?!”
- “There is nothing to brag about.” He snaps, grumpy as always.
- I smile at him. “Who is she?” Ready to burst with excitement. Adrian needs his mate more than anyone I know, him and his Wolf both need her.
- He walks away, leaving me hanging just when I think he is exiting, he closes the door.
- “Do you remember the girl from the other day? At Winter Bloom Academy, the one we found in the principal’s office the scared little girl in the hallway?”
- I pause, recalling the memory and when it clicks, I nod. “Yes, I said I wish Belle and Racheal were like her so we wouldn’t have to worry much but you’re going in circles what does she have to do with this?”
- He clenches his teeth, so tight I think they might crack. “It’s her. That pathetic little girl is the one that has me this fucked up.”
- “You’re joking?” I chuckle.
- He glares at me and I know at that moment, he isn’t joking, he is dead serious.
- My mouth comes to my hand and I shake my head, now I understand why he has been so pissed off lately. He never wanted a mate and if he did get one he hoped for the opposite of her. Silence consumes us both, I take a seat and so does he, we don’t say a word to each other …
- “So when are you bringing her home?” I break the silence.
- “What?”
- “When will you bring our Luna home?”
- He shakes his head, a finger up at me, “No, no she is not my Luna.”
- “But she’s your mate.”
- “There sure as hell might be some mistake. What use do I have for her? You saw her tremble over lord knows what highschool brat. I am an Alpha, I run the most feared pack in the world and you think I will have her for a Luna?”
- “You don’t have a choice, she is your mate.”
- “Man don’t say that again I don’t need a mate much less her.”
- “What about the mate bond?”
- “I don’t believe in that Mumbo-Jumbo crap and I am not the mate type, I don’t need one I am a lone wolf I ride alone. I don’t need a Luna. ”
- “Yet your Wolf needs her, you can deny she’s your mate all you want but the truth won’t change she’s your mate and you won’t be at peace with your Wolf when she’s away.” I shrug. At this point I don’t care how annoyed he is, I just want him to hear the truth. Seeing that he won’t listen, I guess there is but one thing I can do to persuade him now.
- “Okay have it your way, I will call mother and tell her that you, her Son, found your mate and won’t bring her home.” I threatened.
- “Okay, even if I wanted to bring her here I wouldn’t.”
- I refuse to take a no, he needs a Luna. “Why not?”
- “Dude I can’t have her for a Luna you’ve seen that little girl.”
- I roll my eyes at him, almost laughing, “If your mate hurts you hurt too.”
- “Quit calling her my mate!” He snaps. “I have my finger on mother’s phone number. Should I call her right now?”
- He stares at me blankly and dial her number, clearly he thought I was bluffing. “Hear that? It’s ringing..” I chuckle.
- He snatches my phone and cuts the call. “Find out everything about that girl!” He snarls.
- “If only they knew the Alpha is afraid of his mom.” I burst out laughing.
- “Just do what you have to do and get back to me when you’re done. Nobody else should know Santiago, you hear me? Nobody.” He warns.
