Chapter 29 Her Purpose

  • The night was cold, but the lights from the Hall of the Williams mansion made the whole place lively and vibrant. The front courtyard was decorated with pretty statues made by a famous artist, one of Duchess Hannah’s friends, whom she wanted me to meet. I was a little hesitant about being introduced to her visitors. But with Hannah’s strong persuasiveness and vivacious spirit, there was no way I could say no to her.
  • The whole place was a little crowded, so Hannah got busy managing her household staff to make the arrangements a little faster so that people could enjoy the refreshments and appetizers before the actual time of the event came. The talented musicians played light, buoyant music while the maids bustled inside the house. They made sure everything would be well prepared and in order.
  • I had never hosted a masquerade or any kind of ball before. And seeing Hannah organize these things amazed me. People like her never had to stress themselves out when it came to gatherings or balls, but she was a very hands-on woman, and she made sure that everything was perfect and the guests were having a great time and experience at her event.
