Chapter 6 The Alpha's Conclusion
- Eloisa’s POV
- N-No!
- My mind screamed for help but no words came out of my mouth. It was so easy for him to decide whether I live or die when I hadn’t done anything yet. I held back my tears while clinging to Dustin, scared of what could happen next.
- Dustin stepped forward, hiding me behind him. “I didn’t bring her here to die in your hands,” his tone was cold and precise. “It’s not like you have another choice,” Dustin continued.
- Jack’s face twisted with rage, his amber eyes glowing fiercely. “This doesn’t even concern you, Dustin! I told you to help me find my mate, not to bring a random woman to bed me! A human slave!”
- Dustin was about to say something when Spade also stepped forward, his playful demeanor gone, replaced with seriousness. “Why do you always look down on humans, especially on women? If you still want to find your mate, do it after you’re through with the beast cycle.”
- Jack turned to Spade with a dark expression looming on his handsome face. “Do you also think I, the noble Alpha of the Redmoon Pack, should sleep with a human slave? Just because you did it, I’d do the same,” he grumbled, clenching his fists so hard his nails pierced through his palms, making him bleed.
- “Let’s not make rash decisions, Jack.” Tyron, who had been observing, spoke up. “Killing her just because you don’t like humans is too much. You could find someone else instead of ending her life just like that,” his voice low, yet I could hear the sincerity in his words.
- Jack’s glare shifted between the three alphas, his anger barely contained. “You’re all defending a human slave? Have you lost your mind?”
- Spade clapped, and his boisterous laugh echoed through the walls. “No, you’re the one losing your mind, Jack. Anyway, if you don’t want this human, I’ll take her home,” he said, yanking me to his side. “We don’t discriminate in the East. I happen to be needing a new toy, too.” Spade winked, pulling me to his chest.
- My body shivered at the sudden contact. I shut my eyes and bit my lip to keep myself quiet. I was afraid to make even the tiniest noise they could notice. I might not like Spade, but he was trying to help me. And if what he said was true, then I might be able to live in his territory, only if he wouldn’t treat me as a toy.
- “That’s enough, Spade.” A strong hand grabbed me by the wrist and pulled me away from Spade. When I checked who it was, I saw Dustin with his eyes narrowed. “This isn’t a game, Spade. And she’s not a toy to play with,” he warned, his annoyance evident.
- Spade laughed even harder, clearly enjoying the reaction he was getting. “I call every woman in my territory toys. Relax, I play with them well. Nobody’s being left out. Besides, she seems to prefer my company over Jack’s wrath. What do you think, Eloisa?” He held my other arm and pulled me to his side.
- “You shameless bastard—” Dustin cursed under his breath only to be interrupted.
- Tyron went in between the two, spreading his arm and pushing them away from each other. “Enough, both of you.” He loosened his tie and sighed. “This isn’t time for petty squabbles. Tonight’s going to be crucial for Jack. Let’s hear him and decide what to do next.”
- Among the four of them, Tyron was the most level-headed. Thanks to him, the two stopped playing tug of war with me in the middle. I thought I’d die with my limbs off instead of my head.
- However, Jack’s anger flared again. Dustin was not lying when he said that Jack was hot-headed.
- “I already told you. I’m not going to sleep with just anyone. She has to be my mate!” Jack exclaimed in frustration. I could tell he had enough of the three, but he should at least consider me who didn’t wish to be here in the first place.
- I came because I didn’t have any choice, but he just ordered me to be killed when he could just let me go.
- “That’s not possible,” Spade muttered, laughing at himself. “Do you think we’d settle for anyone if we could find our mate? Ask the elders,” Spade pointed at the other men sitting quietly in the room, listening with their mouths tightly zipped.
- I almost forgot about them, but it seemed like they said nothing because the kings were the ones talking.
- “Has anyone in history who became an Alpha King found his mate before the beast cycle? No one, Jack! So, if you think you’re the Moon Goddess’s favorite to receive her blessing on finding a mate during your beast cycle, think again ‘cause that’s just not possible,” Spade continued, a hint of bitterness laced in his voice.
- Jack looked away, despair was written all over his face. “I just have to find her. I know she’s somewhere in this world…” he mumbled, clenching his fists.
- “I don’t want to agree with Spade, but he has a point. The chances of finding your mate are too low, especially when you enter your beast cycle tonight. Besides, we wouldn’t be able to tell whether a person is your mate or not. You’re the only one who could tell if she is, Jack.” Dustin brushed his hair up with his fingers, revealing his glowing green eyes.
- “This is for the balance of power, Jack. You can do whatever you want after you sleep with her. If you still refuse, the three of us will be forced to lock you up until you control the curse which will be impossible,” Dustin persuaded Jack in a firm and desperate voice.
- “Damn!” Jack cursed under his breath. He grabbed a fistful of his hair in frustration. He left his seat and walked toward my direction, eyeing me like a prey he wanted to devour.
- My instinct was telling me to run, but before I could move an inch away, Dustin turned to me. “Eloisa,” he called. Dustin looked at me with a stern expression on his face. “You want to live, right?”
- I nodded to his question. Even though I didn't expect that I still want to live. I thought it would be better to die but for some reason, meeting the alphas made me change my mind. Something within me felt strange… It was as if I found a way to survive in this world. I just needed to figure out how.
- “Then you will have to serve the Alpha of the Redmoon Pack tonight,” Dustin continued, grinning.
- My hopes were gone as soon as I heard him say that. I thought he was on my side. If not, what was that kiss for? Did he just feel like doing it so he did?
- “Hey,” Spade interrupted, holding Dustin’s shoulder. “Don’t force her to do what she didn’t want to,” his voice was cold and his expression was blank. I didn’t expect he’d make a face like that.
- “Eloisa, you can come with me instead. Jack didn’t want you anyway, they’ll find a substitute somehow,” Spade smiled, holding out his hand to me. “It doesn’t have to be exactly you.”
- I was lost and confused, but my survival instincts got the best of me. I still didn’t know how to get out of this situation, but as long as there was another option other than sleeping with any of these men, I’d grab it.
- “What do you think you’re doing?” Jack grabbed me before I could hold onto Spade’s. Suddenly, the creases on his forehead straightened as he held my arm. “What in the world…” Jack muttered, looking at me with eyes widened as if he was shocked about something.
- “Don’t sweat it, Jack. You don’t have to force yourself on her either. Other human slaves are willing to sleep with you if you need them tonight,” Spade said in a mocking tone.
- “Let her go, Spade.” Dustin slapped Spade’s hand when he tried to hold me. “She belongs to Jack for tonight,” he sternly said.
- These guys… They’d been dragging, yanking, and pulling me around like I was some kind of a rag doll! It was frustrating yet I couldn’t even say anything against them!
- “Dustin’s right,” Jack muttered, snaking his arm around my waist. “This slave is given to me,” he said, facing the other alpha kings. “She belongs to me tonight.”
