Chapter 3 The Alpha's Slave

  • Eloisa’s POV
  • My heart pounded in my chest, each beat echoing in my ears. I couldn’t breathe. The man with me, with his wide grin and beautiful dark brown hair glistening under the sun, exuded an overwhelming power and domination. His green eyes locked with my hazel ones, piercing through my very soul, overwhelming me with just a glance.
  • Of all people, I just had to bump into an alpha. He grinned like it was nothing to him, but I was losing my mind every second with him around.
  • Something inside me felt strange, something I couldn’t explain. Even after meeting high-ranking werewolves who sometimes visited the underground prison, I never felt like this before. An alpha was beyond me, indeed.
  • “What, did you lose your tongue? Who are you?” His voice was gentle and playful, but it etched through my head, forcing me to answer him.
  • “I—I don’t know,” my voice cracked. Two years of isolation was long enough for me to forget my name. It wasn’t like remembering it would do me any good. For two years, I was called ‘72’, the 72nd slave in Mama’s candy shop.
  • The alpha hummed and stood up. I followed his next move as he glared at the one who bought me.
  • “Theodore, what a surprise! Did you purchase a slave?” His deep and low voice vibrated through my skin, a hint of threat audible in every word he spoke.
  • The man he called ‘Theodore’ stepped forward and groveled on the ground, his body trembling. “Alpha, forgive my impertinence,” he said, showing the remote for the electrifying bracelet on my wrist.
  • “I heard the Alpha of the Redmoon Pack was looking for a woman to please him. He turned 22 years old this year and will finally enter his beast cycle. I bought this slave to serve him on that special day. She’s clean and pleasant to the eyes, too,” Theodore explained, hiding his initial intention.
  • The way he looked at me after leaving the shop, I knew he never planned to give me some alpha at all. Theodore was only making an excuse. As far as I knew, having a human slave was against the law, unless you’re an alpha. However, some werewolves were more stubborn than humans, and they loved breaking the laws they made, even at the cost of their lives for insulting their rulers.
  • “Oh, you mean Jack? That hot-headed fool wouldn’t need just any pretty woman by his side for sure,” the alpha looked at me before extending his hand. “Come. I’m on my way to meet the other alphas. Since you’re to be given to the Alpha of the Redmoon Pack, I’ll just bring you along,” he said, snatching the remote from Theodore.
  • The latter on the side was shocked, unable to move when the alpha pulled me up and dragged me to his car. Even I could do nothing against him. I wanted to say something but my words remained on the tip of my tongue and were never heard.
  • “Javier, take care of that sly man. I always knew he wasn’t the type to take orders from the ruler of the pack,” the Alpha ordered, and a man appeared from the shadows. “Get rid of him.”
  • “Yes, Alpha.”
  • Woah! I didn’t even feel his presence at all!
  • “Don’t worry about it. You will never see Theodore ever again,” the alpha said as he sat next to me in the backseat of the car. “I’m Dustin Freze, Alpha of the Moonless Pack. Now that Theodore isn’t around, would you mind telling me your name, human lady?”
  • I stared at Dustin’s hand, lost for words. He was too friendly for an alpha, something I didn’t expect. But of course, I knew he was up to something. Werewolves were never friendly, they only acted like one to fool their prey.
  • “Still can’t talk?” Dustin grumbled, “My hand hurts.”
  • Even though my mind refused, my body moved on its own to shake the alpha’s hand. “E-Eloisa,” I mumbled, reminiscing about a time when people called me by that name.
  • “Eloisa,” he repeated. “You got a nice name,” Dustin complimented.
  • I’d admit it was nice to hear someone saying that about the name I almost forgot. The orphanage director was the one who named me that. She used to say it suited me best and was always grateful that I grew up well despite our poor environment in the orphanage.
  • I was about to open my mouth to say something when the door to the driver’s seat opened. It was Javier from earlier. “I’ve gotten rid of Theodore, Alpha.” He sat in front of the wheels, his voice soft and quiet.
  • Dustin grinned. “It looks like Eloisa's a lucky charm. If not for her suicide attempt, we wouldn’t be able to catch Theodore breaking the law,” he said, leaning his back on the seat and turning to me.
  • “I guess it’s all thanks to you, Eloisa.” He grinned and looked at the other guy. “Javier, you’re now my beta,” Dustin continued.
  • The guy he called Javier sighed. “Alpha, is it really okay for you to decide that out of the blue?”
  • Dustin shrugged. “Why not? Aren’t I the Alpha? Now, drive. Let’s head to the central state to meet the others. We can’t delay shipping Alpha Jack’s present,” he winked at me.
  • In the end, I’d still become somebody’s slave. Coming with Dustin wouldn’t guarantee me freedom.
  • “No…” I mumbled, scooting farther from Dustin. My eyes noticed the remote on the seat. If I could take it, there would be a chance he wouldn't be able to locate me after escaping.
  • “Don’t even try,” Dustin suggested with his eyes closed. “You’re a human slave who has nowhere to go. If you try to escape, the rogues will only catch you. You’ll be lucky if they sell you again,” he opened his eyes to see my reaction. “If not, you’ll end up as their plaything.”
  • Although the way he said it was painfully blunt, Dustin was right. I wouldn't have ended up in Mama’s candy shop if not for those rogues.
  • “Jack is a brute but he knows how to protect his people. If you obey him well, he might allow you to live,” Dustin continued. “He’s also quite popular among human slaves, you know. That brute has a handsome face,” he clicked his tongue in dissatisfaction.
  • “He badly needs a woman right now. I heard he’s been missing every night, looking for his mate before his big day,” Dustin added, shaking his head.
  • I wasn’t sure if Dustin was talking about the ‘Alpha Jack’ I heard of. The other girls often talked about ‘Alpha Jack’ in the underground prison and even wished to die at his hands. They said he was the epitome of beauty.
  • But if it was the same ‘Alpha Jack’, wasn’t he one of the four Alpha Kings who ruled over the world?
  • My heartbeat became erratic just thinking about the possibility of being an alpha’s slave. The other girls also mentioned that he was the most terrifying of the four Alpha Kings. If what they said were true then… Alpha Jack Archer would definitely kill me.
  • “Human slaves adore his beauty,” Dustin mumbled as if he could read my mind. “But he hates humans.”
  • I knew it! I was heading to my death.
