Chapter 47 A Cold Kiss

• I walk carefully to avoid tripping in this dress. I hold the fabric carefully to avoid wrinkling it and hold onto the staircase railing carefully. I didn't want to roll down again from stepping wrong. I already experienced it once and I didn't like it at all.
• Downstairs, everyone was there, including Jason. He looked very handsome in his suit, which matched perfectly with the red of my dress. Mia was in my grandmother's arms, wearing a princess style dress also in red. She looked so beautiful in that dress and I wanted to cry realizing that I couldn't afford to give her any of these luxuries on my own. I worked part time in different places to be able to buy the basics, and still, the money wasn't enough. I had to be very resourceful with expenses and work more than I should. Even when I was sick, I went out to work. I had to because all I had in my mind was to be better to show everyone that I could move forward and be a great mom. But, what I wanted the most was for Mia to be proud of me as she grew up and now, I fear losing her. I erase the thought of losing her from my mind so it doesn't come true and put a smile on my face to continue down the stairs.
