Chapter 3 Surprise Event Part 2
- Ruyman
- The truth is that these past two years I have been happy, in my own way. I don't lack the company to warm my bed when I feel like it, but without the complications of having a partner. Besides, my busy life doesn't allow me to think about anything else.
- I come from a very close"knit family. My father was a very successful Spanish businessman, specifically from the Canary Islands. He started his business from scratch with a small hotel that soon became a chain spread throughout the country, and over the years, it expanded to other European countries. According to my father, my mother was the reason for his success. I have a younger sister, Cathaysa, or "ranita" as Benearo and I call her, to bring her down from her princess pedestal. When she was little, we told her that the most she could aspire to was being the frog in the fairy tale. Apparently, we were wrong even about that. Throughout my life, she was my father's princess, and he made sure we knew it when she cried on purpose to get us punished. She was often so solid, and nowadays she is the beloved wife of one of the richest and most successful businessmen in Europe. She went from being a princess to a queen, and their story was like a fairy tale, with witches, ogres, and an eternal dream that awakened with a prince's kiss. So being around those two is overwhelming, to say the least. (*see "United by Revenge")"
- Two years ago, she married a massive man, a Scottish Highlander, a millionaire, handsome, and with an amazing right hook. I still remember the blow my brother and I received when we wanted to explicitly find out if that man deserved my sister. My jaw hurt for a week, and since that moment, my boxing lessons, along with other martial arts, intensified. A man's pride is very fragile, and nowadays it wouldn't be so easy to knock me down. Ranita is also the mother of one"year"old triplets, so her gift to me was giving me two nephews and a niece whom I adore. My nephews are two small copies of their uncle twins, little earthquakes in the making. I couldn't be prouder of them. They will definitely avenge their uncle.
- On the other hand, I have my alter ego, my older and twin brother, Benearo, better known as Zape. In case you didn't know, we weren't named the "Terror Twins" by chance. My sister named us after Zipi and Zape, two comic book twins who were experts in mischief and driving the world crazy, especially their parents. The description couldn't be more accurate. That's exactly who we are. When we're together, we relive our childhood and adolescence in boarding school, being punished daily for the great ideas we had. On more than one occasion, my father considered sending us to a military academy in the United States. Thank God, the queen of the house, my mother, is the one who has the final say in my family.
- The truth is that my brother and I have what is called a special connection, something of twins, although we couldn't be more different. He adores his wife, although they initially fought like cats and dogs. It was more of a way for my brother to keep her at a distance. As I said, I'm the smartest of the three. But apparently, the more you fight with the person you love, the more you fall in love with them, or something like that. They say opposites attract. I definitely don't get involved in that, not in a million years.
- I have two nieces who are causing us a lot of headaches. I say "us" because every damn worry that those two cause, I feel an urgent need to call Zape. I think I'm going to start improving my security company just to send a few agents to my brother, to keep those two little devils under control. That way, I'll be able to sleep peacefully. I'm already burdened with my brother's life. Why would I want to complicate mine even more?
- The thing is, I'm different. I don't want to be tied down. I like the empire I've created. Before retiring, my father entrusted each of us with a part of the companies, although we have to meet every six months to share our progress. Even so, each one is responsible for their own part of the group.
- Cathaysa is in charge of public relations, advertising, and marketing for the entire group. Benearo is responsible for the European part of the group, and I'm in charge of the Asian and American part. For now, it's working very well, and I don't want it to change. But apparently, my overwhelming family doesn't think the same way. Even though I'm miles away from them, they still want to control me.
- "Zipi, you're a nuisance. I don't understand how you can live like this, knowing the family you come from..." she interrupted. This was going to drag on for too long.
- "Don't start with your stories. Don't you have something else to do besides bothering me? Aren't you busy showering the world with love with your husband? I have things to do," I said without looking at the phone where my annoying sister wanted to test my patience.
- "Well, my husband is exhausted from giving me so much love. I remind you that it's early morning here. The truth is, I'm tired too. My Highlander is very passionate, dear brother, and that's why..." I interrupted her. The image of my brother"in"law making love to my sister was not an image I wanted in my mind right now, especially when I had to get ready in an hour for a special event that Rayco, my best friend and successful Spanish entrepreneur in the restaurant industry, had invited me to.
- "Disgusting, frog! I'll let you go. I need to cleanse my mind with bleach or something stronger," I hung up without letting her speak. She was very annoying, but I adored her.
- I was almost finished reviewing the report when Rihanna, my secretary, arrived. I know, the name is peculiar, especially because my attractive, but rather serious secretary is the least similar to the sensual singer.
- Of medium height, dark complexion, more like mulatto, she was blonde with green eyes, always wearing black"rimmed glasses. Her hair was always pulled back tightly. She usually dressed in executive shirts and skirts of various colors, rarely smiled, and was very efficient."
- "Mr. Bencomo, Mr. Vieira says they have plans to go out," I felt that Rihanna said the last sentence with resentment. I looked at her, but her cold and calm expression didn't reflect anything. She was as usual.
- " "I'm coming, let me change and go. Or better yet, let him in, and you can leave. I just sent you the document, you can look at it tomorrow. Rest well, Rihanna." Without saying anything, I went to the adjacent room to my office, where I had a break room and a bedroom for when I stayed late at the office."
- I was almost finished getting dressed when Rayco entered with a red mark on his face. It was clearly the mark of a hand, and from the shape, I knew it was from a woman.
- "What did you say to Rihanna this time?" I said to him in Spanish, so that my secretary wouldn't understand me.
- I knew she would be listening, waiting for my reaction. She was one of those people who were always seeking the approval or disapproval of others, so she knew how to react next. She was a very predictable person, the only person who made her seem human was my friend, Rayco, and that was because the overwhelming businessman loved to push her buttons.
- "It doesn't matter what I say to her, ever since I get close to her, that witch has her claws sharpened. But she has me puzzled, and I can't help it, doubt is eating me up inside. I need to know if you hired a person or a robot," he said, grabbing some ice from the fridge in the break room.
- "By the time you find out for sure, she will have left a permanent mark on your face. At least dodge some punches so it's not so obvious that you're into BDSM," I joked. He just looked at me, but didn't respond. From the expression on his face, I knew he considered my joke unworthy of a response.
- When I finished getting ready, we walked out the door of the room. I didn't want a second encounter with Rihanna. The reasons were obvious.
- First, to prevent those two from starting again, for whom I had a theory: either they ended up in bed together or they killed each other. I bet on the former. Second, I didn't feel like answering the barrage of questions that the probing Rihanna asked me every time I went out with Rayco Viera, CEO of the restaurant chain, Vieran Delights of Spain. It was as if she feared that Rayco would get me into some trouble. She reminded me of my mother, but at twenty"two years old."
- When we were in the limousine, I asked him, "Where are we going? And why the hell did I have to pay ten thousand dollars to gain access?"
- "It's an event recommended by a client. They say it's the trend among businessmen. I don't know what it's about, but it's causing a sensation among high executives, CEOs, and billionaires. We'll find out together. Once I present this badge, they'll let us in," he replied.
- At that moment, I didn't know what that night had in store for me, but I would soon find out, and my destiny, my future, and my life would be sealed forever.
