Chapter 8 You're Unworthy Of Being Their Father!
- "You cannot bully my sister!"
- The boy stepped forward, shielding his sister, as he watched the slap approach. He trembled yet showed no signs of backing down!
- However, the slap never landed.
- That woman's hand was tightly grabbed by a strong hand!
- "Bullying two young children, don't you feel ashamed?" Gabriel suppressed his anger and asked coldly.
- "Who do you think you are? How dare you interfere in our business?" the middle-aged woman responded rudely. "Get lost—otherwise, you'll regret it."
- "How much? I'll compensate," Gabriel said calmly. "Take the money and leave."
- "You?" the middle-aged couple asked. "Two hundred thousand dollars. Can you afford that?"
- "You stinking pauper!"
- "Get lost, go away—"
- Gabriel's gaze turned cold as he coldly remarked, "Is this daylight robbery?"
- "So what if it's daylight robbery? Anyway, if they don't pay up, I'll break the legs of these two little brats!" they shamelessly exclaimed.
- "Uncle..."
- "No, don't give them money..."
- "It's not our fault. We were collecting bottles by the roadside, and they bumped into us..."
- "They caused my brother's hand to bleed... and they dragged us, blaming us for their own collision... sob, sob..."
- Gabriel glanced at the boy's hand, confirming that it was indeed scraped and bleeding... Anger surged within him!
- Yet, the boy clenched his lips defiantly, seemingly impervious to the pain.
- A sharp pang of anguish pierced Gabriel's heart. This was his own child, after all!
- He locked his fierce gaze on the couple in an instant.
- The terrifying aura of his murderous intent sent shivers down their spines!
- "Is that how it happened?"
- "Yeah, so what? Even if we extorted money from them, so what? Mind your own damn business! You have no idea what we've been through..."
- As she was halfway through her sentence, Gabriel grabbed her by the throat and forcefully slammed her onto the hood of their car...
- "Ah!" The middle-aged woman's head throbbed with intense pain. Blood flowed as she let out a piercing scream akin to that of a slaughtered pig.
- The middle-aged man erupted in anger, "How dare you touch my wife? I'll kill you!"
- He threw a punch.
- Gabriel's eyes were filled with anger. He raised his hand, gripped the man's arm, and twisted it forcefully, snapping his hand in an instant!
- "Ah!" The middle-aged man's face contorted in pain, and he dropped to his knees. "Pain, pain, pain..."
- "Go to hell!"
- Gabriel's eyes revealed a murderous intent, a terrifying surge of killing intent. This surge nearly suffocated the two of them, as if they were choked by a demonic grip around their necks!
- "Sir, the children are still here," Audra reminded.
- Gabriel's heart trembled.
- He couldn't let the child witness the bloody scene!
- "I'll spare your lives. Get lost." He released his grip.
- The two fled hastily, their courage nearly shattered by fear!
- Because they felt that the man before truly wanted to kill them!
- "Uncle," Deirdre wiped away her tears, revealing a bright smile. "Thank you!"
- Gabriel's gaze softened as he crouched down, wiped away dirt from their faces. He smiled and asked, "Kids, why were you picking up bottles outside? Isn't your mother at home?"
- Andrew glanced at him warily, tightly protecting his sister.
- "You're not allowed to touch my sister. Mommy said we should be wary of suspicious people outside," Andrew stated firmly.
- Gabriel was taken aback, then sighed with a bitter smile. He realized he owed them so much over the years that even their own biological father standing before them would remain unrecognized.
- "Brother, Uncle is not a bad person!" Deirdre immediately retorted.
- "Mommy said that bad people outside are very cunning, and we shouldn't trust strangers easily."
- "But I feel like Uncle is our dad... Uncle, do you know our dad? Once, I woke up in the middle of the night and saw Mom secretly taking out Dad's photo, wiping her tears alone..."
- Gabriel felt a sharp pain in his heart. "Alright, from now on, I'll be Andrew and Deirdre's dad."
- "Nonsense!" Andrew said indignantly. "Dad can't be acknowledged randomly! Deirdre, our dad is a hero! We can't just find anyone to replace him!"
- "But, the warmth uncle gives me... feels just like Dad."
- "I-I'll think about it," Andrew's face turned red suddenly.
- He also wanted a dad.
- That way, they wouldn't be laughed at, saying they were children without a dad.
- Gabriel listened to the conversation between the two children, his eyes red with concern.
- "Andrew! Deirdre! Where are you?"
- At that moment, a voice echoed from the alley.
- Gabriel immediately turned his head and saw a familiar figure appear before him.
- Their gazes met.
- The atmosphere froze in place.
- "Xanthe..." he said gently.
- Xanthe hesitated for a moment, then approached him with a cold expression on her face.
- Smack!
- Gabriel received a crisp slap!
- Xanthe's beautiful face was filled with anger, frustration, and eventually, she broke down in tears. "Go away! Just go away! You haven't been here for five years, and now you decided to show up now? Leave immediately!"
- "I..." Gabriel attempted to defend himself, but no words came out. Finally, he spoke with guilt, "I'm sorry! I've failed you... I owe you all..."
- "This time, I will make it up to you, the debt I owe to you and the children," his tone was unwavering. "Trust me!"
- "Not necessary!" Xanthe coldly rejected. "Deirdre, Andrew, let's head home."
