Chapter 22 Almost Got Caught

• She sat up in a panic. “Eli... Oh, he has left.” She turned around, found the spot next to her empty, and breathed a sigh of relief.
• “Clarice! Can't you hear me?” Xavier was shouting impatiently outside the door, giving her a headache. Clarice was worried he would barge in if she did not answer him, so she got out of bed and reluctantly replied, “I heard you.”
• She could not open the door immediately as she was in a disheveled state after the vigorous session with Elijah the night before. Thankfully, Xavier stopped the commotion after he heard her reply. From the other side of the door, he ordered her to join them for breakfast and left.
