Chapter 10 Do Not Push It
- Xavier paused and shot Clarice a vicious glare before saying, “I'll let you off the hook for today, but this isn't over. Your life will be a living hell, Clarice!”
- He then stormed out of the bathroom while Clarice slumped to the floor, her face pale from fear and despair.
- Oh, no... What do I do?
- Meanwhile, Henry had an icy-cold look in his eyes as he stared down at his grandson in the study.
- “Hey, Grandpa,”
- Xavier greeted him while making his way toward the couch, but Henry stopped him before he could sit down.
- “I didn't say you could sit down!”
- Xavier frowned impatiently and asked, “What on earth is going on?”
- “That's my line! What on earth is going on between you and Clair?” Henry snapped back at him coldly.
- “What could possibly be going on between us?” Xavier snorted as he replied nonchalantly.
- “What about Christie, then?”
- “It's just a casual fling.”
- Although Xavier hated Clarice for cheating on him and had tried to spite her with Christie in retaliation, she was merely a tool for him to get his revenge on Clarice.
- He was only keeping her by his side temporarily because of her obedience and willingness to satisfy him in bed.
- “That had better be the case!”
- Henry snorted coldly as he said that. Clarice had assumed that he knew nothing about her issue with Xavier, but there was no way Henry, the head of the household, wouldn't know about it.
- Despite him being satisfied with having Clarice as his granddaughter-in-law, Henry saw nothing wrong with Xavier having an affair either. He believed that men had it in them to sleep around and wouldn't bat an eye as long as it didn't cause any trouble.
- In fact, the only reason he summoned Xavier was to give him a little lecture and keep him in check.
- “Elijah will be coming home soon,” Henry said with a gloomy look on his face.
- Xavier frowned almost instantly. “Uncle Elijah? Why is he coming back? Is he dropping by for a visit?”
- As he had rarely ever seen his uncle growing up, Xavier didn't know him all that well and felt nothing toward him at first. However, Henry had left him with a negative impression of Elijah over time, which led Xavier to see him as a rival.
- While Xavier was the rightful heir to the Zimmerman family by name, Elijah was no pushover either. With his father being Henry's older brother, Elijah could very well be the heir if he hadn't spent most of his time overseas.
- “I'm afraid it could be more than just a visit. He's planning on developing his business here.”
- The look on Xavier's face grew serious when he heard that. “What do you plan on doing about it, Grandpa?”
- “For now, I'll just observe and see what Elijah is really up to. You should be a little more careful too. Stop fooling around and go to work at the office as you should. Remember, Elijah is both my nephew and your uncle.”
- “Got it!”
- Xavier nodded solemnly. There was no way he wouldn't take it seriously as it could threaten his position as heir to the Zimmerman family.
- “Stay home tomorrow and help Clair out with the preparation for the party. The main purpose of this is to welcome Elijah's return from overseas, so make sure to give it your best effort. I don't want rumors going around about me mistreating my nephew, got it?”
- “Don't worry, I'll make sure everything goes well. Is there anything else you would like to tell me? If not, I shall excuse myself for now. It's late, and you should get some rest too, Grandpa.”
- “Keep in mind that it was your decision to marry Clair, so don't push things too far, okay?”
