• “Jay…” Hannah was not used to seeing such a serious side of Jay. She panicked, not knowing how to face him.
• “You just have to answer yes or no,” Jay said to Hannah, his eyes intense and hopeful. “I’ve noticed your interactions with Calvin. Any outsider looking at you and him and Avery would think that you guys are the perfect family,” he said, sounding dejected and hurt. He looked at Hannah quietly, awaiting her response.
• “I’ve always thought of you as my best friend. I’ve said that even before I agreed to date you,” Hannah replied. Her heart was filled with guilt and sorrow, and she could not bear to look at Jay. No matter how many hurtful things Calvin Fullerton had done to her and no matter how much time had passed, she still yearned for him.
