Chapter 60 Ruby

• I sit in Knox and Lilah’s house, everything such a blur. I am so confused. In such a daze. I vaguely remember walking here with Jake. I can’t believe Jaxx killed Rose, or her wolf form. For me. That is so wrong. He should never have had to do that. I should never have argued with her. She may not have got angry then. She may not have come for me then. I assume Jake had told her what had happened between us. He said he wanted to. He said he wanted to be honest with her. I understand that, but maybe that hadn't been the right thing to do in the end. He was talking about rejecting her. Why would he do that for me? I am not worth that. Though this is not about me, this is about her. Rose. And the fact she is dead. Because Jake, or Jaxx killed her. Just thinking about it makes me feel nauseous all over again. Makes me think of her wolf's body lying there, her neck snapped... What was Jake thinking? Surely he should have known better.
• And now we find ourselves in this mess. I feel sick with nerves. With sheer worry. They will have to tell her family. Surely that could start a war between the two packs? That is not something the pack needs! Our pack is generally a peaceful one. The occasional rogue attack here and there, which is swiftly dealt with, and is never much of an issue. But a full on war, that is not something we need or want. It is one of the things I most fear, as I saw enough violence and death in our old pack, I do not want to be the cause of that in this pack. The pack that gave me and my family a home, a safe haven from the hell we had been living in.
