• Elise didn’t lose sight of Celine while Leon and Luke were busy talking in the middle of the meal. She kept an eye on her movements and eating habits, but not as close as she had expected.
• “Mrs. Bridgerton, I finally met you too... Um, you’re not the type of woman I expected Leon Bridgerton to marry,” Elise began, as if insulting Celine. Was it because she wasn’t used to wearing expensive clothes or dealing with the actions of a prominent family?
• Celine had a strong suspicion that Luke’s wife disliked her, but she couldn’t figure out why. But she had to concede it because of Luke’s kindness to her.
