Chapter 6
- "What the fuck, dude!?" He cursed his twin brother without knowing that it was me who accidentally stepped on him.
- I bit my lower lip as I wanted to say my apology but I don't want my parents finding out that something was happening under the table.
- "Hugo, Hunter! What is this manner!? We are not inside our household for you to curse like that!" Mr. Warren's voice was as firm and strict like dad but it doesn't seem to affect and scared them a bit.
- "He stepped on me," he rebutted like a kid so I cleared my throat to stop them from making this lunch more terrible than I'm expecting.
- "It was… me. I accidentally stepped on him. I'm sorry." I looked down feeling embarrassed.
- "Oh? It's alright, sweety, no need to feel bad." Mrs. Warren's angelic voice soothes me and made me smile. I like how calm and considerate she was like mom.
- "Mom, I'm your son here." The man in front of me reported with pure sarcasm, causing both of his parents to glare at him. "Wow, okay. So I'm the worst son here."
- I almost giggle at his adorableness. He doesn't look the type to be this jolly and talkative, very opposite from his twin brother.
- Speaking of twin brother, I gulped the dryness of my throat as the feeling of someone staring at me intensely made me feel so uncomfortable and nervous.
- "Hugo, will you please stop playing around and just eat. You are disturbing others from their meal." Hailey Warren interfered and gently scolded her brothers as she was also feeding her four sons with her husband.
- "Copy, sis. Stop bothering me, Hunt."
- I went silent for a few minutes, realizing that the man whom I had a one night stand with, isn't Hugo Warren and was his twin brother instead. I was trying to process the information that creep to me and I almost felt the hair on my nape raising when I realized one thing.
- Did I just cheat on my future husband with his twin brother!?
- I immediately stood up from my seat and run inside the house towards the kitchen. I felt my stomach flipping and I throw up at the sink. My tongue felt bland and my stomach grumble, probably because I was nervous and scared enough for this to affect me this much.
- I was scared not only for me but for him. If my parents find out that he was the man whom I had one night stand with, they would definitely go into a shock and might disown me for disrespecting someone.
- "Charylle!" My mom followed me from behind and I started to get weak so I let my body fell on the cold floor. The lid of my eyes were close to closing as my breathing started to be calm. "Oh my god, Charylle… are you pregnant!?"
- Mom's question woke me up from my weak state and I immediately shook my head as a prior response. What is she thinking to ask me such question–
- I was also stilled at my own thought but I was sure I'm not. "It's exactly one month since you had sex right? Were you on pills that night?" Mom held my cheeks in her hand and I can feel it shaking just like mine.
- I once again shook my head, unable to talk because of the pressure I was currently feeling.
- "Oh my gosh, what about condoms? Are you sure that you used protection properly?"
- "Yes, mom, we did. Stop worrying about it. I just felt sick today and I am definitely not pregnant." It's not that I'll let that happened. Even when I was drunk that night I was sure to be responsible for my actions. And beside, my period should come by tommorow or the next day.
- I just hope it visited me.
- Mom helped me fix myself and showered me with perfume before we join them back for lunch. Dad raised a brow at us but mom only answered him with a sweet smile.
- Then my eyes landed at Hunter and I immediately pierce a glare at him. His face fell with confusion and perplexed at how I reacted but I only answered him by rolling my eyes.
- I would literally kill him if he ever impregnate me.
- The lunch continued with only our parents talking, I would only join the conversation when I'm being asked or they're asking for my opinion with some business matter. I don't know that much about business so I'm also glad that Hunter and his brother was ready to catch the question for me.
- "How old are you again, Charylle?" Hailey asked.
- "Twenty-five. I'll be turning twenty-six next year." I greatly answered her question. "What about you? How old are you?" That question supposed to meant for Hailey but my eyes were being pulled by Hunters presence.
- He even pointed a finger to himself to ask if I was talking to him, I just nodded and go with the flow to avoid embarrassing myself.
- "Thirty-two." He answered boringly.
- I had to bit my lower lip to avoid a grin from spreading. So he's already thirty-two but I'm his first virgin? Isn't he being a really good boy?
- "Old enough," I was supposed to say that inwardly but I happen to say it out loud.
- "Old enough to what?" I don't know if it was just me who can hear the teasing in his voice.
- 'Old enough to be a sugar daddy'. That's what I wanted to say but my parents might bash my head on the table if I say it out loud.
- "O-Old enough to reach for your dreams." I let out a fake and awkward laugh before started eating my food. Good thing our parents were too preoccupied with their business topic so they couldn't sense the awkwardness between us.
- More discussions have been made and we almost stayed there for a whole two hours when Mr. Khiel, Daddy's attorney, came in with his usual atrache case.
- "Mr. Khiel, it's nice seeing you again. It has been so long since we last saw each other." Mr. Warren greeted him so I took the chance to reach out for my glass of juice while they are still busy.
- "That's Hugo's,"
- My hand stopped midair when Hunter took my attention. "What?" I flatly asked, not getting what he's trying to say.
- He pointed at the drink that I'm reaching for before talking. "I said that's Hugo's drink." He cleared out.
- "It's okay, you can have mine." Hugo offered me his drink that I'm supposed to get and I was about to take it from him when Hunter soundly put his glass full juice in front of me, as if telling me to take his instead of his brother's.
- I averted my gaze to him and the first thing that I noticed was his extra serious face. His jaw was clenching and his arm on the table was casually showing me the veins causing by his fisted hand.
- I look away so as not to meet his intense stares and minutes later, our attention were once again piqued when dad showed us a paper that I wasn't expecting to be the marriage contract.
- It felt heavier than what I imagined. Hugo easily signed up and it took me multiple deep sigh before I signed it. Attorney Khiel told me my obligations as a wife and same as Hugo as my husband. Our parents also told us that we are old enough to live in one roof so my parents ushered me to my room so I can pack any clothes I wanted to bring.
- "Enjoy your first night as a couple."
- Our parents bid us goodbye and I don't know how many times do I have to replay the happenings inside my head. It felt surreal that in the blink of an eye, I'm finally married.
- And worst is my husband's twin brother is my first.
- I felt like the worst person ever, but how would I know!? I don't even know them in the first place so how could I tell myself not to flirt with him!?
- "That's your seventh sigh after we went out of your house. Regretting that you agreed to marry me?" A boyish grin appeared on his reddish lips, but of course, I'm not that type to tell him I was really regretting.
- "Of course not."
- It's not like that. I'm regretting the decisions I made for my parents to pull this card just to teach me of my responsibilities. I know I should have been a better daughter and obeyed their rules and command.
- "If you say so."
- He doesn't look convinced at my answer. Honestly, he is definitely a good catch and if in instance that I wasn't force to this marriage, I would probably choose him as my boyfriend. I mean, who wouldn't like him? He looks gentleman, have a sense of humor, literally handsome and most of all… rich.
- It didn't last long when we finally arrived at the mansion as big as ours. It's design was more modern and was covered with walls of glasses.
- He opened the door for me and invited me inside. It looks so cozy and warm, he leaded me towards the masters bedroom where we'll be staying and my smile turns into a grimace.
- "We don't really need to sleep beside each other. I prepare this room beside the master's bedroom, just choose which room you want to stay in."
- My head snap at his direction. Did he really mean it that we don't have to stay in one room?
- "What?" He looks so surprised at my sudden reaction, but does this also mean that he's not interested with our marriage.
- "You are not, literally, going to make me as your wife, aren't you?" I need to make sure first. "I mean, are you really serious with this marriage. Like you really agreed to this because you like me and you want to spend your lifetime with me?" I gave it to him direct to the point because everything was making me crazy.
- He shrugged his shoulder and pulled my luggage inside the masters bedroom, leading me to follow him and expect him to say something that would make me feel better and less stressed.
- "No offense, but I just agreed to sign that contract for my inheritance. You know, I did something terrible and this is the only way I can still get the money I worked hard for." He explained gently, trying to convey my emotions from his confession. He let out a deep breath before looking at me. "I honestly don't want to drag you down on this mess but your parents also insisted to arrange our marriage, and I'll ask for your forgiveness until it's early. My real wife…"
- He put emphasis at the words 'real' and 'wife', obviously telling me that he's not pertaining to me.
- "Is pregnant with my boy and she needs me beside him." He ended and I actually loved how he was so responsible even at this state.
- "Then why do you have to marry me when you can just tell them that you are already married?"
