Chapter 7 Ambiguity And Desire

  • Fellis's body immediately stiffened as she turned around to smile unnaturally at Director William, signifying her approval of his behavior.
  • Director William was highly satisfied with Fellis's attitude. He approached her, looked at her, and said, "I am delighted that Miss Andy graced us with her presence today!"
  • "Thank you, Director William. It is my pleasure to meet you," replied Fellis Andy, her face displaying flattery, despite her current self-loathing.
  • "Haha, Miss Andy certainly knows how to flatter," Director William chuckled, reaching up to touch his head in satisfaction. He then gestured towards the corner of the room and said, "Miss Andy, I did not invite you here in vain. As I mentioned before, I will introduce a major client to you. And now, here he is!"
  • Director William raised his chin, motioning for Fellis to look at the figure sitting alone in the corner of the dimly lit room.
  • Unfortunately, due to the low lighting, Fellis could only make out a tall figure, sitting with crossed legs, drinking wine.
  • "I made several appointments with this client before finally meeting him. Today, if you can win him over, not only will I offer you a collaboration project with our company, but you may also choose whatever you desire in Houston!"
  • Although Director William was reluctant to send Fellis, he was a businessman at heart. As long as his guest was satisfied, he could easily find a better woman than Fellis. Director William had previously sent several women without success, and now, he placed all his hopes on Fellis.
  • Director William handed Fellis a glass of wine and said, "The success or failure of today depends on you, Miss Andy! If you win him over, you will no longer have to worry about anything!"
  • Fellis looked at the wine glass in Director William's hand, bit her lip, and accepted it. She stood up, maintaining a smile, and walked towards the figure.
  • "Hello, may I join you for a drink?" Fellis asked, holding a glass and sitting beside him.
  • "Not interested," Alexander Gunner replied coldly. He and Warren Lindolf were currently negotiating to enter the clothing industry, and Director William, being the biggest cloth maker in Houston with extensive connections, had invited Alexander for a meal after repeated pleas from Warren.
  • However, Warren had left with another woman shortly after, leaving Fellis alone to drink. Alexander had initially planned to leave without waiting for Warren any longer. After finishing his glass of wine, he intended to get up and leave. But he did not expect Fellis to approach him and try to cheer him up.
  • However, when Fellis heard his voice, she immediately frowned. The voice was so familiar! She felt like she had heard it somewhere before!
  • Hesitantly, Fellis began to observe Alexander under the dim lighting.
  • Alexander, noticing that the woman next to him had not left, raised his head impatiently.
  • Their eyes met, and the same question arose in both their minds:
  • Him?!
  • Her?!
  • Alexander looked at Fellis in surprise, taking note of her black backless dress and silver heels.
  • Why are you dressed like this, Felicia Andy?!
  • Alexander fixed his sharp gaze on Fellis's face:
  • Behind the wavy hair, there was a small, fair, and tender face. Her charming eyes seemed to be lightly adorned with eye shadow, and her red lips were slightly parted.
  • Alexander furrowed his brow slightly. He had never noticed that Felicia, who used to be so innocent and childlike, also had an alluring side, especially her eyes.
  • Seeing Alexander's attention, Fellis's smile stiffened. How could she encounter Alexander Gunner here? Wasn't he known as a faithful husband? It was late, and he should be sleeping in his villa with his wife! Why was he here drinking wine?
  • It seemed that Alexander's reputation as a loyal man was not entirely accurate! His appearance had not changed at all!
  • But what did all of this have to do with her? Fellis thought.
  • They had been strangers since four years ago. Today, she encountered Alexander again, and her current identity was merely a woman seeking to benefit from him.
  • Therefore, she had to face this inevitable situation! She also had to provide for herself and Joy, and she was not going to waste any more time here!
  • Fellis quickly adjusted her expression, swayed the wine glass in her hand, and smiled at Alexander. "President Gunner, what a coincidence!"
  • Alexander did not respond to Fellis; his lips were tightly sealed.
  • Alexander did not expect Fellis to be here today, of all days!
  • "Why are you not speaking?" Fellis asked, looking at Alexander. "President Gunner, let's toast to you. After this collaboration between Big Tsundere Corporation and Director William, we will work together!"
  • Fellis once again raised the wine glass in front of Alexander.
  • Alexander's cold eyes fixated on the grapes, meeting Fellis's indifferent gaze once more. He asked, "Felicia Andy, are you in need of money?"
  • Fellis's hand holding the glass was noticeably rigid. "Is there a lack of money?!" she exclaimed. "Of course, I have always been short of money for the past four years!"
  • Alexander observed Fellis's reaction and made a conjecture. After a moment of contemplation, he reached out and pushed the glass in Fellis's hand. He spoke calmly, "When I signed the divorce agreement with you four years ago, your divorce compensation was ready. However, you hadn't claimed it at that time, so the money remained. If you wish, I am willing to add money and interest to it, all for you."
  • Alexander couldn't help but feel relieved in his heart, hoping that this gesture wouldn't make him appear condescending towards Fellis.
  • Fellis attentively listened to every word Alexander spoke. Exhausted from living in such circumstances, she almost subconsciously responded, "I accept," as soon as Alexander finished his sentence.
  • For anyone, the compensation money would be a significant amount. If Fellis accepted Alexander's money, it would undoubtedly alleviate their current financial urgency and allow her and Joy to live comfortably. She wouldn't have to endure the embarrassment of being with Director William anymore.
  • However, Fellis clenched her teeth, forcing herself to remain silent.
  • If she were to receive divorce compensation from Alexander now, why should she have worked hard for the past four years?
  • If Alexander still possessed a shred of humanity, he would undoubtedly feel guilty at this moment.
  • Fellis would never allow the guilt in Alexander's heart to dissipate! It would be better to haunt Alexander's conscience constantly, preventing him from finding peace at night!
  • She could bow down before anyone, but never before Alexander Gunner!
  • Observing Fellis's silence, Alexander made the decision for her. "Alright, give me your account number, and I will instruct my assistant to contact you as soon as possible."
  • "President Gunner, did I ever say that I would accept your money?" Fellis gently swirled the wine glass in her hand. In the dim light, her face appeared even more elegant. "You can just hand that money over to your current wife! I heard she has been infertile for years. Perhaps this is karma."
  • "Felicia, do not overstep your boundaries!" Alexander firmly grasped Fellis's wrist, causing the wine in the glass to spill. "The one at fault here is me, and it has nothing to do with Ellie!"
  • "Haha, nothing to do with her?" Fellis laughed, her expression turning colder. She whispered into Alexander's ear, "You married me even though someone else held your heart. That woman knew you were marrying me but willingly became the third party! Alexander Gunner, neither you nor that woman are good people!"
  • "Felicia!" Alexander's grip on her hand tightened, causing Fellis to feel the pinch on her wrist.
  • "Why? I am merely speaking the truth. Do you feel guilty?" Fellis bitterly smiled. Even though she no longer loved Alexander, she couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness when she saw the person she once deeply cared for. She had almost killed herself because of him and that woman, so it was only natural for her to feel sorrow now.
  • "I will not allow you to speak of her like that!" Alexander warned, his gaze fixed on Fellis.
  • "Ha ha!" Fellis couldn't help but sneer. She calmly and ironically asked, her voice audible only to Alexander, "Madman! What did I do wrong? Why should I be the one left in such a state after you wronged me?!"
  • Before Fellis could finish her words, Alexander's hand, which was gripping her wrist, suddenly lost its strength.
  • The sharpness in his eyes vanished, and Alexander questioned himself. Since he entered the business world, he had committed many unforgivable acts. There were few things that could make him feel guilty.
  • But his guilt towards Fellis was not insignificant.
  • Perhaps Fellis had treated him with utmost sincerity, making it impossible for Alexander to erase his memories of her. Perhaps Fellis's current situation had also sparked new thoughts within him.
  • "In any case, I will have my secretary contact you," Alexander said, avoiding Fellis's gaze.
  • "I told you, I don't want the money," Fellis stood her ground. She raised the half-spilled glass and offered it to Alexander once again. "Today, we are merely business partners. Let's make a toast, and all you have to do is drink it. It's that simple."
  • "What if I refuse to drink it?" Alexander looked at Fellis, disliking her confrontational attitude. Four years ago, she was an innocent and easily controlled young girl. Now, four years later, she stood before him, holding a wine glass and challenging him.
  • Felicia Andy, I haven't seen you in four years, and now you dare to order me around!
  • Alexander's eyes narrowed. It would be better if Fellis took the money and obediently stayed away from him.
  • However, Fellis met Alexander's gaze without the slightest hint of fear. Four years ago, she had been terrified of him, unable to even look at his face.
  • But now, things were different. She would never fear Alexander Gunner again. She even wanted to see what consequences would arise if she provoked this tiger!
  • "Since President Gunner refuses to drink it himself, then..." Fellis began, but before she could finish her sentence, she swiftly poured the contents of the wine glass into her mouth. She then promptly climbed up Alexander's neck and kissed his lips.
  • Fellis's eyes closed, her eyelashes curled, and she appeared somewhat hesitant.
  • The taste of wine mixed with Fellis's unique fragrance lingered on Alexander's lips. He widened his eyes, intending to push Fellis away, but the wine had already flowed down his throat.
  • Alexander pushed Fellis away, looking at her in astonishment. Why had this woman changed so much?
  • "President Gunner, now I consider that you have toasted me," Fellis declared proudly, her hands still around Alexander's neck. "Four years ago, every time you returned home, there was always the scent of another woman on your body. Now, unless you change your clothes before coming home, your wife will understand how I felt back then!"
  • Fellis had encountered Alexander by chance today. However, the way she had treated him just now was entirely her own decision. She sought revenge against that woman.
  • When she thought about how Alexander's wife would react upon smelling the scent of another woman on his body, Fellis's heart filled with satisfaction.
  • It must be admitted that sometimes, it is quite gratifying to seek vengeance against those who have caused harm, regardless of how much time has passed.
