Chapter 6 A Good Person Who Was Bullied

  • Aiden threw the cutleries in frustration and glared angrily at Stella. "I was eating, why did you kick me?"
  • Upon hearing this, Linda immediately confronted Stella and shouted, "Stella, why did you kick my child?"
  • At that moment, Stella could no longer tolerate the situation. She took a deep breath and addressed Linda and Aiden. "Firstly, Aiden is my husband, and matters between husband and wife should not be interrupted by a mother-in-law. Secondly, I am in charge of everything in this house, both inside and outside. My income is also higher than Aiden's, so if I say I won't accept Fellis' money, I won't accept it!"
  • "Stella, what do you mean by that? I am your mother-in-law, do I need your permission to speak?" Linda became angry upon hearing Stella's words. "Do you understand the concept of respecting parents?"
  • "We should respect each other. Mother-in-law, you mistreated my friend, so my attitude towards you is understandable!" Stella calmly replied to Linda.
  • "Stella, that's enough," Fellis intervened, sensing the tense atmosphere. She tried to calm Stella down by holding her hand.
  • "Fellis, it's alright." Stella smiled reassuringly at Fellis, indicating that she shouldn't worry. After all, she couldn't tolerate her mother-in-law's superior and unreasonable behavior.
  • Stella approached Fellis and whispered, "Fellis, no matter what, keep that money. Don't give in to my mother-in-law. As my friend, you should stand with me!"
  • Fellis hesitated as she looked at Stella.
  • Stella insisted to Fellis and turned her gaze back to Linda and Aiden at the dining table. "Fellis, remember, I will not accept the money!"
  • Seeing Stella's firm stance, Fellis nodded. She decided to support Stella for the time being, but she knew that the money would eventually be returned to Stella.
  • However, Linda suddenly exploded. The daughter-in-law who used to respect her had become defiant. She slapped her thigh and shouted at Aiden, "My son, your wife has no respect for me! Aren't you going to say anything?"
  • "Oh, mom, can you please calm down?" Aiden remained indifferent. He had pretended not to see his mother mistreating Stella, and now that his wife was standing up for herself, he still had nothing to say. He preferred to leave his mother and wife to resolve their issues on their own. He thought it would be better to go back to his room, play games, and chat with his friends.
  • "I don't want to live anymore! My daughter-in-law and children are all ungrateful. The child I raised with so much effort doesn't want me. What's the point of my existence? I might as well die!"
  • Feeling awkward, Fellis was about to comfort Linda but was stopped by Stella.
  • Stella looked at Linda sharply and coldly. "Fellis, don't say anything. Just ignore her!"
  • "I'm not eating anymore!" Aiden threw down his cutleries. "It's been like this all day. Aren't you tired of it?" Aiden glanced at Linda and Stella, grabbed his cell phone from the dining table, and headed to the bedroom.
  • Shocked and scared by her son's anger, Linda didn't dare to speak. She picked up her cutleries and continued eating.
  • Stella observed her mother-in-law's behavior and sneered inwardly. It seemed that even good people who were bullied could become bullies themselves. If she had known it would turn out like this, she would have spoken up from the beginning!
  • Stella served vegetables to Gabriella and Joy, putting them in their bowls. She spoke softly, "Gabriella, Joy, you should eat more vegetables to stay healthy!"
  • "Thank you, Mami Stella!" Joy politely smiled at Stella, but his mood was not good. Ever since Linda arrived, the atmosphere at home had changed for the worse. Joy, who used to want to live with his mother, now wanted to leave even more.
  • Fellis looked at Joy, who was eating silently with his head down. She understood what Joy was thinking, and it motivated her to work harder, earn money, and take Joy away as soon as possible.
  • After finishing the meal at Stella's house, Fellis prepared to leave.
  • Linda didn't come out of her room due to the argument at the dinner table, and Aiden only uttered a single word.
  • Only Stella accompanied Gabriella and Joy to see Fellis off downstairs.
  • "Goodbye, Mom." Joy waved his hand, and Fellis could see that Joy was holding back tears.
  • "Joy, Mama promised you. Mama will come and pick you up very soon!" Fellis's eyes welled up with tears as she tightly hugged Joy.
  • "Fellis, don't worry. I will take good care of Joy." Stella patted Fellis's shoulder, reassuring her.
  • "Yes." Fellis nodded at Stella, her eyes filled with sadness, and slowly walked away.
  • When she returned to her small apartment, Fellis couldn't stop thinking about Joy's tearful face. As she took out her key in despair and was about to open the door, the landlady appeared.
  • The woman had colorful curlers in her hair and was wearing a pink pajama set to cover her robust figure. She looked at Fellis standing at the doorway and asked, "Fellis, are you back?"
  • "Yes." Fellis nodded. She knew that the landlady had come to collect the rent. Remembering that Stella had transferred the money back to her account, she bit her lip and made a decision. "Madam, is there a problem with the rent? I don't have cash right now, can I transfer it?"
  • "Fine!" The landlady's expression brightened when she realized Fellis had no intention of going into debt. As long as she received the money, whether in cash or through a transfer, it didn't matter to her.
  • "Okay, I'll transfer the money as soon as I get back to my room." Fellis nodded and was about to enter the house when she was stopped by the landlady. The landlady advised her, "You'd better transfer the rent now..."
  • The experienced landlady had encountered all kinds of people who tried to borrow money. The room rent was reasonable, the location was good, and most importantly, the price was affordable. She had decided to rent the place to Fellis because she didn't seem like someone who would accumulate debt. However, the landlady was growing more and more skeptical of Fellis's reliability.
  • Helplessly, Fellis sighed and was forced to ask for the landlady's account number again. She immediately transferred the rent, and the landlady left with satisfaction.
  • Fellis watched the landlady leave and finally entered her small apartment. She sat on the sofa without turning on the lights.
  • The room was dark, with only a faint light from the lamp outside illuminating the space. Suddenly, Fellis felt a salty taste in her mouth. She reached out and touched the corner of her mouth, realizing that she was crying.
  • Fellis chuckled at her own weakness, recognizing her vulnerability. She reached up to wipe away her tears, then stood up and switched on the light.
  • With the warm orange glow filling the apartment, Fellis took a deep breath. She turned on her computer, hoping to see if any companies had responded to the resume she had sent.
  • However, all those companies had rejected Fellis's application.
  • Fellis shook her head in disbelief. She was a graduate of Hogwarts University with four years of work experience. The position and salary requirements were not excessive, so why was she unable to secure a job?
  • Could Alexander be behind all of this?
  • Fellis shook her head again, her expression filled with disdain. What was Alexander truly thinking? Why wouldn't he let her go?
  • As she pondered this, Fellis felt a headache coming on once again.
  • "Ah-choo!" Fellis sneezed, feeling unwell since taking a cold shower the previous night. The cold medicine she had taken seemed to be ineffective as well.
  • After a moment of contemplation, Fellis opened the drawer to search for any remaining cold medicine. In that moment, her eyes fell upon Director William's business card.
  • Suddenly, Fellis's fingers paused. She had kept Director William's business card to gain advantages in her previous job. Even though she was no longer there, could she still have a chance to return to Big Tsundere Corporation by contacting a big customer like Director William?
  • With this thought in mind, Fellis held the business card as if it were a treasure. She glanced up at the wall clock, noting that it was only eight o'clock in the evening, not too late. She could still reach out to Director William. It was her last resort.
  • Fellis retrieved her cellphone and dialed the number on the business card. The phone rang three times before being answered.
  • However, Fellis could hear the noise on the other end of the line. There were the voices of several women, the clinking of wine glasses, and the sound of men laughing. It seemed as though they were in a bar.
  • "Hello? Who am I speaking to?" Director William's voice, tinged with drunkenness, came through the phone.
  • "Hello Director William, do you remember me? We last spoke at a banquet hosted by Big Lindolf Corporation. I'm Fellis Andy," Fellis's voice was sweet, even managing to wake up the slightly intoxicated Director William.
  • "I remember, I remember!" Director William, who had been lying on the sofa, immediately sat up. He nodded and asked, "What's the matter, Miss Andy?"
  • Fellis hesitated for a moment before speaking, "Director William, you are Tsundere Big Company's largest clothing fabric supplier. I heard that Tsundere Big Company is planning to negotiate a project with you. I would like to discuss this with you."
  • After finishing her statement, Fellis felt a twinge of discomfort. By reaching out to Director William, Tsundere Big Company would surely send specialized personnel to handle the negotiations. She had called suddenly and wasn't certain if Director William would believe her.
  • "So, that's what it is." Director William on the other end of the line appeared hesitant before saying, "We can casually discuss matters of cooperation, there's no need to rush."
  • Upon hearing Director William's response, Fellis wondered if he was not giving her a chance. Would she simply give up?
  • Fellis gritted her teeth and politely said, "Director William, as you know, job opportunities are extremely scarce nowadays. I hope you can give me a chance."
  • "I see..." Director William paused before continuing, "Actually, I will be discussing business with several bosses in three days. I hope you can accompany me. I will also introduce you to these bosses. At that time, the opportunities you'll have will extend beyond just working with me!"
  • Upon hearing this, Fellis froze for a moment. Did Director William mean to ask her to accompany him and entertain some guests with drinks?
  • However, the current circumstances didn't allow Fellis to ponder for long. She hesitated for a few seconds before saying, "Alright, Director William, please provide me with the address. I will definitely be there on time."
  • "Very well, the address is Kingdom Hotel, the most luxurious hotel in Houston. My secretary is in the process of booking a room, and I will inform you of the room number as soon as possible."
  • "Okay, thank you Director William for giving me this opportunity," Fellis expressed her insincere gratitude.
  • Director William noticed that Fellis was not as eager to leave this time. He attempted to convince her, saying, "Miss Andy, as long as you accompany me well, there will be numerous opportunities for you."
  • "Yes, I understand," Fellis replied, biting her lip. She smiled, but there was a hint of bitterness in her smile.
  • Fellis ended the call and collapsed weakly onto her small bed. She closed her eyes, feeling utterly exhausted. She had a sense of what would transpire in three days, yet lacked the determination to prevent it. Real life was tormenting her, and she didn't wish to say anything further.
  • Fellis drifted off to sleep, desperately in need of rest.
  • Three days passed in the blink of an eye...
  • Fellis sat in front of the mirror, her face adorned with simple yet elegant makeup. Her beautiful eyes reflected a profound sadness. Finally, she applied pink lipstick to add color to her face. After applying lip gloss, she was ready.
  • Fellis sighed, standing up. She wore a simple black dress with an open back, a design of her own creation. Her style was bold and alluring. The bottom of the dress featured elegant black lace. With Fellis's beautiful and delicate back, the large "V" shape on the back exposed her fair skin, capturing the attention of others.
  • Fellis donned silver stiletto heels with a height of seven centimeters and left her apartment with her bag in hand.
  • She made her way to the given address, arriving at the door of the room Director William had mentioned.
  • Fellis gazed at the door of the luxurious room, took a deep breath, and entered with the assistance of a servant.
  • Upon entering the room, an overpowering scent of alcohol and cigarette smoke assailed her senses. The room was dimly lit, and loud music filled the air. Fellis noticed that there were approximately six or seven people in the room, but she couldn't discern their faces.
  • She observed her surroundings carefully until her eyes landed on Director William, seated by the door, singing into a microphone while his other hand rested on the waist of the woman beside him.
  • Fellis glanced at the women in the room, then at herself, realizing that her attire could be considered quite modest in comparison.
  • "Director William!" Fellis approached with a smile on her face.
  • "Ah, Miss Andy has arrived!" Director William, who had been singing, heard Fellis's voice and immediately turned his gaze towards her. With a wave of his hand, the woman seated beside him stood up and moved aside.
  • Witnessing this, Fellis hesitated for a moment before taking a seat next to Director William.
  • Director William, upon seeing Fellis beside him, smiled and hesitantly placed his hand on her shoulder.
