- Hazel shrank back, pressing herself into the corner of the room as if the walls could shield her from the man towering over her. Her wide, doe-like eyes, dark and glistening, looked up at him with a mix of fear and vulnerability.
- Zachary took a deep breath, his chest heaving as he struggled to control his temper. His voice came low and sharp. "Don't give me that look—the one that says you know you messed up, but somehow I'm the villain for raising my voice. I won't fall for it."
- Her delicate fingers clung to the wall, pale against the sterile white surface. "I'm sorry, Mr. Luellen," she whispered, her voice trembling. "I admit it.
