Chapter 4 Who Was That Woman?

  • She wanted to walk away again. She needed to go home and celebrate her success.
  • Imagine getting a job without even presenting your documents? Her day had finally come.
  • So, it did not matter what she would be doing. She was just going to take the nanny job like her part time one.
  • After all, she was getting paid for both. She was going to get rich soon!
  • "You will have to stay in my house," President Lee spoke up. And she turned to look at him.
  • Was he doing everything on purpose? Of course, that was what she regretted the most.
  • How she wished that she was able to change that part of the contract! What did he think while creating it like that?
  • Was his wife never going to get jealous? Did she even know that the person that was going to nurse her son was her husband's ex girlfriend?
  • And that it was her own husband that had begged her to take the job?
  • Ah! She shook her head. That was not her problem!
  • Even if she was going to lose the nanny job, she would make sure she never lost the one at the company.
  • But again, she would just be doing her work. It did not matter if it was in his house that she was going to live in or in any other person's house.
  • She was the one looking for the job. And he was the party offering it. She could not do anything about that.
  • She could just remain a submissive servant, and he, the boss. That was what he wanted, right?
  • "I know," she said. Arguing with him about that would be useless after she had already signed the contract.
  • "I will pick you up then," he stated. He was trying to put up every kind of conversation with her, but she kept cutting him short with her replies. "Get ready early in the morning..."
  • But Rubby shook her head immediately. "Nope, there is no need for that. I will bring myself. Just send me the address," she said and walked away.
  • Why was he trying to act like a good person when he hurt her in the past? She was tired of pretenders.
  • She only wanted to know that she was all alone in the world. She did not want any more pretenders.
  • She should have known that he had not changed a bit when he began chasing her that year.
  • Because it seemed like the him she knew in highschool was still the him now. In between, he had faked everything.
  • She went home after that. She needed to arrange her things then take some rest.
  • She knew that she was going to get busy after that.
  • ...
  • Once Rubby was gone, Brett rushed back into the office. "Boss, how could you do that?" He asked. "She does not qualify for the job..."
  • Lee just threw him a lazy look. "I make these decisions, Brett," he said. "You do not have to tell me what to do."
  • "But still, she can never be able to perform in both. She has no experience, what are we going to tell the board members? Those men are always at our necks!" Brett kept complaining.
  • Who the hell was that woman that came to change their boss?
  • "Brett, she is the only person that can take good care of my son," Lee replied with a sigh. "I had to do anything to make her give in..."
  • Brett pouted. "That is still unprofessional boss," he complained. "We did not even check her documents."
  • "I think I need to check yours first," Lee said in annoyance. He did not want anyone to question him about this issue!
  • "Um... I get you boss," Brett said hurriedly. "I will do as you say..."
  • "Good!" Lee answered and looked at his laptop. His moods were not so good today, like he had expected.
  • Brett was silent for some seconds. "But boss, every position in the company is occupied. What are we going to do?" He asked.
  • "Creat one for her," Lee replied without looking up. "Hhmmm... Something simple that does not need any experience. She could work for me. Things like delivering tea, picking up calls and organizing documents..."
  • "Huh!" Brett looked up in confusion. "But there is somebody doing that!"
  • And Lee got annoyed again. "And that person is you! Can you just do as I ask you to?" He asked.
  • "Um... I am sorry boss," Brett said and looked away. Anyway, why was he even complaining? It was a good thing for him. He was going to have less work!
  • He was silent for some seconds. "So, do you think she will do a good job?" He asked.
  • And Lee looked up, even though he looked like he was lost in his own thoughts. "She is trying to play hard... I know what I will do!"
  • It pained him that she acted that normal when she saw him again. He had always wondered what it would have been if they ever met again.
  • And nothing like what that he had always thought happened today.
  • He was thinking that maybe she would be so mad at him and curse at him. Or maybe, she would even cry.
  • But her calm nature had made his heart bleed. So, all the worries he had had about her were for nothing?
  • In fact, it seemed like she was leaving well, not thinking about him even the slightest.
  • "Huh! Rubby Hayley!" Lee said again, not caring that Brett was around. "Let us see if you will be able to escape once you get into my hands... You cannot run away from your responsibility. You have to take care of Little Gem."
  • Brett was a bit shocked. He looked at the man before him with widened eyes. And he could not hold on his curiosity.
  • "Do you know her too well boss?" He asked. " Wait... That girl, could she be Little Gem's mom... Uh... I will get going. I will make everything ready," he said and ran out when his boss shot him a deadly look.
