Chapter 3 I Trust You
- Rubby, who had been determined to leave froze. "Excuse me?" She asked. What the hell did he mean?
- Lee looked into her eyes, his expression cheeky. "You can get work at the company, but still work as a nanny to my son... You will get paid for both..." He explained calmly.
- And the other two people were shocked. "Boss?" Brett called in shock. "We do not have any vacancies..."
- "I am talking Brett," Lee said, shooting him a look that made him shut up.
- Rubby took in a deep breath. Was the man okay? Was he setting up a trap for her?
- But Lee just stared back at her. "You want to work at TT, and I want a nanny. Why don't we both benefit? You can take both jobs!"
- Rubby was actually tempted. She stared back at the man, and she was reminded of his younger self.
- Yes, he used to be that jovial, not like the ice she saw when she got in the office.
- "Are you in?" Lee's voice brought her back to her senses. And she sighed.
- She wanted money so bad! And if she were to work like that, she would be able to pay off her debts on time!
- No one else would ever offer her such terms. Her lips slightly raised. Let me see what you are up to Lee Fredrick!
- "I am in," she said, and she could see the look of ridicule in Lee's eyes. But it did not disturb her. "Only if you answer me one question..."
- Lee pursed his lips. "Okay," he said calmly. And he saw Rubby look at Brett.
- "Excuse us for a minute, Brett," he said.
- "Um... Uh...okay," Brett said as he left the office. But he had so many grievances in his heart.
- Why the hell did the boss want to give her work at the company? She had no qualifications!
- And they had turned down even professionals. Who the hell was that woman?
- "What are you playing at, Lee Fredrick?" Rubby asked angrily once they were alone.
- Lee remained calm, observing her. And he tried so much to keep his emotions unreadable.
- "Nothing," he said. "I only want someone trustable to look after my son."
- Rubby felt like crying. Someone trustable? Did he say that?
- "So, in your eyes, Lee... Am I trustable?" She asked with sarcasm.
- But the funny thing was that the man did not hesitate. He nodded his head, like he was a fool.
- "Yeap, I trust you," he said.
- And a certain part of Rubby's heart softened. She did not know how that happened. But she felt emotional.
- These were the feelings that she had always suppressed in the past that were showing up...
- "Why did you agree for us to break up then?" She asked. She only wanted to get that reason. That was something that had been eating her up all these years.
- "Because it was the right thing to do," Lee replied, still so calm.
- And Sunna wanted to laugh at herself. Huh! The best thing to do? Just like that?
- She took in a deep breath again to calm herself down. It was useless questioning him!
- "Okay... I get it," she said and took back the contract and the pen that were on the table.
- Lee was a bit taken aback. "Are you going to sign it, just like that?" He asked.
- And the girl nodded. "Yeap. Is this not what you want?" She asked him with a sneer.
- "Um... You have nothing else to ask?" Lee questioned. He was expecting her to throw a tantrum or something!
- "Nope," Rubby shook her head and signed the contract. "I am good."
- She handed him the contract and stood up to leave. She was going to work. She would not let personal issues affect her.
- Lee looked through the contract with a sigh. He had not expected that it would be that easy.
- "Thank you president Lee, for the work," she said.
- "You are welcome," Lee replied. But he was feeling uncomfortable. Was she ready to let things go, just like that?
- He looked up at her again and sighed."All I need is for my son to be okay..."
- "Mmh," Rubby nodded in understanding. "I shall take my leave then, president Lee."
- "Umm... I do not stay with my wife," Lee said. "So, my son needs better care..."
- And Rubby was already getting irritated. She hated the pride he used while saying his son.
- "I will do what that is within my job," she replied. So what if he did not live with his wife?
- Their relationship belonged to them, it did not bother her.
- She took a few steps forward. She did not care about anything more now. She wanted to focus on making money.
- She was a happy person now. She wondered how her annoying parents would react once they found out about her new job.
- But his voice stopped her. "Ruby," he called.
- "Mmh?" She turned to look at him. " Is there anything else President Lee?" She asked with raised brows.
- But she was slightly shocked that he called her by her first name. Shouldn't he have called her Miss Hayley or something?
- The closeness between them stopped existing that day they broke up. And it even became more distant when they cut every form of communication between them!
- "When are you reporting to work?" He asked and stood up. He was looking tensed up. But Rubby thought that she was seeing her own things.
- She paused for some seconds, feeling like that was not really the question he wanted to ask.
- "I thought that that was written in the contract," she said to him with sarcasm. Was he really okay?
- He was obviously the person who had prepared that contract.
- If not, he must have thoroughly gone through it. It was about his kid anyway. And he claimed to care so much about the kid, right?
- "Oh, I had forgotten," he said as he looked at the contract. " It says tomorrow."
- "Yeah," Rubby nodded. "I will report tomorrow," she said. She wanted to be committed to the work for her not to lose it.
