Chapter 3 We Don't Dare
- Everyone's eyes fell on him and widened. They turned to look at Reginald at the same time. The Man's dark eyes were cold, and it was obvious that he was also looking at the little boy. His expression was ambiguous.
- “Why did you bring your sister here?”
- Cynthia was so focused on the child that she didn't even notice the odd look on everyone's face.
- “I was playing with my tablet while you were sleeping, and I saw an ad for free food and drinks, so I brought my sister.”
- Nicholas's voice was crisp and clear.
- Everyone gasped. Free food, free drinks, free money? This was the Mo family's banquet. They needed an invitation card to enter, not a free meal.
- “Yes, Mommy. The food here is delicious. My brother and I were just about to pack some more for you to taste when you came.”
- Edwina smiled sweetly and shook Cynthia's hand. “Mommy, don't be angry. My brother and I just wanted to give you a big surprise.”
- “It's a surprise!”
- Cynthia's heart was still pounding. God knows how scared she was.
- “Okay, okay. My brother and I were wrong.”
- Edwina is very good at coaxing people, especially smiling eyes curved, pear dimples like a black hole in the universe, enough to let the heart fall, no matter how big gas will be absorbed, they can not lose their temper to them.
- “Don't do that again.”
- Cynthia's not mad anymore, his voice softened. “Let's go home first. In the future, you have to tell me if you want to go out. Even if I fall asleep, you have to tell me. Also, you can't have free lunch in the future. No matter how delicious it is, you can't have it.”
- “Okay, Mommy.”
- “Yes, Sir!”
- The two little children smiled and took Cynthia's hand.
- “Cynthia?”
- There was a sudden shout from the crowd, a mixture of shock and resentment. Cynthia looked up and saw Georgia staring at her. She saw the man staring at her, his eyes as sharp as eagles, locking her in tight, there was nowhere for her to go.
- The humiliation that night, or the pain of her own heart, was like a tidal wave that poured down on her. It was mixed with Georgia's voice. “Reginald isn't dad. He'll cut you and your mother into pieces and feed them to the dogs.”
- The fear was overwhelming.
- Cynthia scowled, picked up Edwina, grabbed Nicholas's hand, and walked away.
- “Mommy?”
- The sudden action frightened the two little children and called out to her at the same time.
- “Let's go home.”
- She panicked, the fear on her face could not be concealed, even to the red eye, dare not have any pause in her steps, hurried to flee.
- After making sure no one was chasing her in the secluded alley outside the hotel, Cynthia Huffed and puffed as she put Edwina down and hugged the two little children tightly.
- “Mommy, I know I was wrong.”
- Nicholas's voice came from Cynthia's arms.
- She relaxed and let them go.
- “Mommy, I'm sorry. It's My Fault.”
- Edwina also took the initiative to admit her mistake.
- They were horrified by Cynthia's reaction. Her small, sad face and big, moose-like eyes sparkled with tears.
- “No, it's none of your business. Just tell me when you go out next time.”
- Cynthia knew that she was scaring them. She tried hard to force a smile and pretend that she was fine.
- Living in a foreign country for five years, the two children have been very worry, suddenly ran out is also tempted to eat delicious, this is the child's nature, she knows.
- She didn't blame them. She was afraid of the man, afraid that he would sense something and rush over and take her baby away.
- Edwina and Nicholas were her life, her roots, her only warmth in this world, and she could never let them be taken away from her, nor could she stand for anything to happen to them.
- “Mommy, actually, older brother is...”
- Edwina wants to say that her brother brought her to daddy so she could sneak in.
- However, before she could say anything, Nicholas interrupted her. “Mommy, it's all my fault. I brought my sister out. You Can Punish Me. You can punish me for anything. Do you want to do the housework or copy the code?”
- “Come on, is this a punishment? It's a reward.”
- Cynthia knows her son well enough to know that no punishment is the ultimate punishment, and he'll remember not to scare her like that next time.
