• Karen—wearing flip-flops and house clothes—took giant strides to where Cora and Jayden stood. Her shriveled face was twisted in a deep frown. "Do you have a death wish? How dare you lay your filthy hands on my great-grandson?"
• This confrontation drew a fearful look from Cora. However, she raised her hand and said with feigned innocence, "I didn't do anything to him. He just started crying out of the blue."
