Chapter 145 The ‘Chosen One’
- Soon, Yvonne and Michelle stepped out of the room and gathered with the rest of the victims in the courtyard, after which everyone confided to each other how happy they were to be finally rescued. Half an hour later, they could hear some commotion on the outside, which Yvonne immediately became alert about. Fortunately, they saw six men in police uniforms coming in as the officer walking in the forefront inspected the surroundings and said, “We received a report about possible criminal activities here, so we came as soon as we could.”
- Nevertheless, Yvonne only stared at the police officers with a frown while Alan approached them and said, “I made the report.” The leader among the officers then walked closer to Alan and replied, “Thank you very much for your cooperation. We didn’t think this place would be a hideout for some criminals.” However, as soon as the officer finished his words, he suddenly pointed a gun at Alan, whereupon the other five officers followed suit. After that, the leader smiled glacially and said, “We’d appreciate it if you could keep cooperating with us.”
- Then, he moved his eyes across the victims’ faces and showed a sinister smile on his face. “I’m sorry to disappoint you guys, but none of our inventory has gone missing on our watch.” Yvonne’s gaze darkened when she heard that. First, it was those fake priests; now, here come the fake cops. Are you kidding me? What have I done to deserve such bad luck?! Moreover, the cops are armed with real guns that can kill people, unlike the flintlock pistol that I used earlier. As Yvonne was pitying herself for her miserable luck, the leader of the imposters shifted his eyes to her. “Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! I can’t believe Scarface really had his hands on some good stuff.” Then, he began to approach Yvonne with a squint while smiling lecherously at her. “Come on, do a strip dance for daddy.” Meanwhile, Yvonne was helpless and upset about her fate, wondering why she was always the ‘chosen one’ to suffer out of everyone else.
