Chapter 28
- As soon as it hit him, she dropped the gun. She didn’t mean it. A wet spot darkened on the back of his crimson shirt; he released Sage’s head.
- ‘You meant it,’ he berated her in her mind.
- He promised her he’d refrain from doing so. Not to enter her mind. But… she just shot him. He got to his feet without faltering and faced her. Even in the distance, dark disappointment was written over his face: the kind that could make the other person doubt their entire existence.
