Chapter 4 A Dissatisfied Alpha
- Evelyn hesitantly stood in front of the door not knowing what to do. She was afraid of what her mate is about to say. The girl had lost all of her hope about being accepted.
- 'What if he doesn't like me? What if he's already married?
- W-what if he r-rejects me?' Alarming thoughts passed through Evelyn's mind as she stood there fidgeting with the hem of her sweater. It took her a minute to calm down and bring herself to finally find the courage to go into the room.
- Taking in a deep breath, Evelyn slowly raised her hand to knock.
- "Come in," A deep voice came from inside the room, making her hand pause in mid-air. The omega gasped and stepped back, surprised at how her mate knew she was there.
- The alpha smelled the presence of the girl the minute she got there. It was an alluring scent of jasmine that was so hard to ignore. He was waiting for the omega to knock but spoke up when he lost his patience.
- Evelyn slowly opened the door before peeking in. The scent of her mate hit the omega like a wave, drowning her in it. She took in a deep breath, closing her eyes as she enjoyed the comfort it gave her.
- The alpha cleared his throat making Evelyn snap back into reality. She looked at the man sitting on his office chair, intently looking back at her with his piercing blue eyes.
- He wore a black T-shirt and blue jeans, his muscles straining under the thin fabric as he crossed his arms. Alphas are naturally strong and muscular. Their domineering aura is one of the things that make them stand out from other ranks but Evelyn knew there was something different about the man in front of her. He didn't look just domineering but also extremely dangerous to mess with. Evelyn clutched her sweater nervously. She didn't dare to make eye contact with the alpha because she knew that wouldn't be good for her.
- He stood up making the omega take a step back as alarming words flashed through her mind.
- The alpha paused, his eyes darkening at her reaction. "Stay there," He said, his voice sounding so deep and powerful that it made Evelyn almost cower in submission. He strode towards her, "What's your name omega?" He stood a foot away from the girl, hovering over her.
- Evelyn kept her eyes on the ground, too nervous to look up. She felt her throat close, not interacting with people for a long time and her anxiety caused the girl to forget how to respond properly. She opened her mouth but no words came out.
- "Answer me," The alpha said, his voice hard and demanding that it made Evelyn yelp.
- "E-Evelyn," She stuttered out, eyes still trained on the floor.
- "What were you doing in the forest?"
- "I-I live t-there,"
- "I have never seen you there before," He cocked an eyebrow at her.
- "I..... Umm.... It's b-because I-I move around a l-lot," The girl peeked at the alpha through her long lashes but quickly regretted it and looked down as she found him staring back at her.
- "Look at me," He commanded as he gripped her chin, making her look up at him. Evelyn felt herself shiver at the touch even though it was a cold and hurtful gesture.
- "Do you know how to fight?"
- Evelyn wanted to shake her head but the strong grip on her chin prevented it. "N-no," She whispered out, trying to make less eye contact as possible.
- The alpha grunted in annoyance, "Do you even have a wolf? I can't sense it," He asked irritably.
- Evelyn gulped not knowing how to respond. She doesn't have an inner wolf, it makes her a lot more weaker than other omegas because she can't shift and fight in her wolf form. She took in a shaky breath as the grip on her chin became tight. "I-I d-don't,"
- "So you can't shift?"
- Evelyn felt her vision blur as she replied, " N-no,"
- The alpha frowned, dissatisfaction and anger crawling over his perfect features making the omega whimper. "Just how pathetic can you get any more than this, omega?" He leaned down and whispered in the girl's ear. Evelyn let her tears roll down as soon as she heard the words. She had expected this to happen but it still hurts. The girl bit her lips as she closed her eyes.
- The man stepped back, rubbing his temple in irritation. "Where is your family?" He asked, frowning as he looked at the girl.
- Evelyn took a step back, hugging herself to make her look smaller. "I-I....I'm an o-orphan,"
- "Did they leave you or die? "
- "D-died," The omega cried, recalling the memories of her father. She never talked about her father after that tragic incident because didn't have the courage to look back at the awful memories even though her nightmares always reminded her of that.
- "Stop crying, you're annoying me," The alpha spat, making Evelyn yelp and step back. The smell of his anger filled the room, suffocating the omega. Evelyn whimpered as she bowed her head in submission. "Why are you crying, huh?" He said and harshly pulled on the omega's blonde locks, making her look up at him again. "I'm the one who got a pathetic creature like you as my mate. I'm the one who should be sad, so stop acting so dramatic."
- Evelyn felt like everything just ended. The last flame of hope she hid in the corner of her heart effortlessly died from the cold words her mate threw at her.
- Quickly wiping her tears, Evelyn took a deep breath in an attempt to stop crying. She knew she'll never be accepted. She'll never be anything important to him other than a burden that he has to bear for the rest of his life.
- It hurt her to think that but she had accepted it as the truth.
- "You can't be my Luna," The alpha stepped back, calm and unbothered as he said the words. Evelyn wanted to cry and beg the alpha to not reject her but she knew that'll only make the alpha hate her more. " A weak Luna means a weak Alpha and I'm not someone who wants to be seen as weak because my mate is an omega," Evelyn bit her lip as the alpha spoke. "My father did so much to build our Pack into one of the powerful Packs in the world and you becoming the Luna will destroy everything." The alpha spat frustrated while Evelyn flinched at every single word he said.
- "S-sorry," Evelyn muttered instinctively. She doesn't even know why she was saying sorry. She didn't ask to be his mate, it wasn't something she could control but she hoped her apology would calm her mate at least a little bit.
- The alpha scoffed, turning towards the omega with an annoyed look. "Sorry? What are you sorry about? Being so weak?" He strode towards the omega and roughly pulled her to flush against his strong chest.
- Evelyn yelped and whimpered in his strong hold. She quickly looked down not wanting to make the alpha mad any more than he already is.
- Getting irritated at the omega who refused to meet his eyes, the alpha gripped her chin and forcefully made her look up at him.
- The omega stared at her mate, fear swimming in her bright green eyes. For a minute, she forgot what situation she was currently in as the captivating ocean blue eyes of the alpha stared back at her. She had to admit that the man was gorgeous, he had sharp and perfect features that would make people take a second glance at him. Evelyn could feel his breathing and heartbeat because of being so close to him. He felt so warm.....and she wanted to stay in his hold forever.
- A light brush of fingers on her neck brought Evelyn back to reality. Her eyes widened as she looked at the alpha. " You have nothing useful to me other than your body," He whispered in her ear, leaning down to brush his nose against the crook of her neck. The alpha sighed, taking in the exotic scent of jasmine. His hands turned tighter around the omega as he brought her closer to him.
- Evelyn didn't know what was happening. She was confused at her mate's behavior. The alpha seemed so mad just a minute ago.
- 'Is my pheromones affecting him?' She thought as the alpha continued to grip her tight. The cinnamon and honey scent of her mate was starting to affect her too as the time passed. She had to get him to come back to his senses before both of them do something absurd that they'll regret later.
- "A-Alpha?" Evelyn whispered, afraid to raise her voice.
- The shaky voice of the omega made the man snap back into reality. He immediately pushed the girl off of him, making her stumble back with a yelp.
- The alpha's eyes turned cold as he rubbed his temples. He cursed under his breath before turning to the girl who was trembling, hugging herself. "Get out," He spat, his voice cold as ice. "And don't come in front of me unless I call for you,"
- Evelyn didn't look up, her eyes stayed on the floor as she muttered a quiet 'yes' before sprinting to the door, eager to escape from the suffocating smell of the alpha's anger
- in the room.
- The omega broke down as soon as she got out of the room. She recalled every word her mate said to her.
- 'At least he didn't reject me,' She thought as a sigh slipped past her lips. 'I want to be strong.......I want to win my alpha's heart....'
