Chapter 5 Please Save My Mistress

  • In the center of the living room was a piano. Stephanie slowly made her way toward it.
  • Juliet looked at her with a cold and disdainful gaze, clearly waiting to see her make a fool of herself.
  • Even without a music sheet, she dares to go and play the piano. How laughable! Even I can't play well without a music sheet, let alone her, a country bumpkin who had never laid eyes on a piano before!
  • But in the next moment, the triumphant smile on Juliet's face abruptly froze.
  • A heavenly piano melody resonated throughout the living room. Stephanie's fair fingers danced effortlessly across the piano keys, and she played a short piece of music without breaking a sweat.
  • From that short performance, Juliet could promptly sense that Stephanie's skills were far superior to hers.
  • How could this be? She doesn't even have a music sheet, yet she could play so brilliantly?
  • Juliet's face turned pale instantly, and she found it difficult to accept that fact. The mocking words she uttered earlier now felt like invisible slaps in her own face.
  • “Stephy, your performance was absolutely fantastic!”
  • “Who would have thought our dear Stephy has such a knack for music!”
  • Luna and William couldn't contain their surprise and delight, their hearts brimming with pride and gratification as they uncontrollably showered her with praises.
  • As expected of our darling daughter! She's absolutely fantastic!
  • At the same time, they both noticed that Juliet was in a bad mood. They hastily tried to smooth things over.
  • “Stephy, we plan to host a grand banquet to announce your identity. Juliet, you and Stephy can perform a piece together at that time! A duet by the two of you will surely dazzle everyone present!”
  • Juliet's face darkened even further.
  • They're even planning to throw Stephanie a banquet? They had never thrown one for me! Sure enough, now that their biological daughter is back, I have no place in this family!
  • However, it didn't take long for Juliet to suppress her dark mood. She said with a sweet smile, “That's great. I'll be glad to play the piano with Stephanie!”
  • Just you wait. I'm going humiliate you at the banquet, Stephanie, you b*tch!
  • Upon hearing that, Luna and William nodded in gratification. “Stephy, Juliet, it's wonderful that you two can get along so well like true sisters!”
  • Then, Luna said, “Oh yes, Stephy, I'll take you to pick out a gown for the banquet. You're beautiful, so you'll definitely look stunning in a gown!”
  • She looked at Stephanie tenderly and indulgently.
  • Juliet found it unbearably galling and immediately interjected, “Aunt Luna, I'd love to tag along and help Stephanie pick out a gown! She grew up in the countryside and has never worn one. I can show her how!”
  • Luna found her words beyond discomfiting, but seeing the benevolent expression on her face, she could only reassure herself that she was reading too much into things.
  • “Okay, you can come along too, Juliet. It's a perfect opportunity for you to choose a gown as well. You both are my dearest children! Juliet, even now that Stephy is back, your uncle and I will still love you like our own daughter!”
  • Immediately, Juliet sneered inwardly.
  • Hah! Those are all lies! As soon as Stephanie came back, all their affection shifted to her. Yet, they're claiming that they'll still love me like their own daughter! What a lie!
  • Regardless of her feelings, a sweet smile showed on her face. “Aunt Luna, I know you and Uncle William are good to me. I'll get along well with Stephanie, and we'll take care of you both together!”
  • “Sure, sure. Your uncle and I can finally rest easy now!” Luna patted her hand smilingly, her face filled with tenderness.
  • Affectionately taking her arm, Juliet shot a provocatively look at Stephanie.
  • So what if she's their biological daughter? I'm the child they raised for eighteen years by their side, and our bond isn't something she could ever compete with. Moreover, I'll find a way to drive this country bumpkin out of the Yarbrough family so I would once again be the sole recipient of their affection and attention!
  • Throughout the drive, Juliet clung to Luna and William, constantly interrupting and diverting their attention whenever they attempted to converse with Stephanie.
  • In the face of her petty tricks, Stephanie couldn't be bothered to take offense with her. She stepped out of the car on her long and slender legs, planning to get some fresh air.
  • “Help! Is there anyone who could help? Please save my mistress...”
  • On the ground lay a lavishly dressed elderly woman with gray hair, passed out. Her housekeeper beside her supported her helplessly, incessantly seeking help from the surrounding crowd.
  • However, none of them dared step forward casually to help, clearly worried that it might be a scam.
  • At a glance, Stephanie could tell that the elderly lady had a sudden heart attack. If she weren't treated in time, her life could be in danger.
  • Grandmother also passed away due to a sudden heart attack...
  • Stephanie pursed her ruby lips tightly and took some silver needles out of her pocket. On her long and slender legs, she headed toward the unconscious old lady on the ground.
  • “Hey, don't go over there, young lady. What if she's trying to scam you?”
  • “Yes , exactly. If she's trying to scam you, young lady, you won't be able to afford the compensation!”
  • “Absolutely. Young lady, you'd better not go there. We have already called 911, and the ambulance will be here soon...”
  • “Back away, everyone.”
  • Stephanie lifted her captivating upturned eyes to look at them. Her voice was mild, yet it carried an undeniable authority.
  • Although she was just a young girl, she exuded an inexplicable strength that commanded respect. Instinctively, the crowd stepped back and made a path for her.
  • Without further delay, Stephanie got ready to perform acupuncture on the elderly lady with the silver needles between her fingers.
  • “What are you doing?”
  • Startled, the housekeeper quickly stopped her.
  • The look in Stephanie's beautiful upturned eyes remained unruffled. She calmly said, “She doesn't have much time left. If she doesn't receive treatment now, it'll be too late.”
  • The housekeeper shook her head in panic. “No, no way. You're just a young girl. What medical skills do you have? What if you make my mistress's condition worse?”
  • “If I fail in treating her, I'll take full responsibility.”
  • The housekeeper wanted to argue further, but when she noticed Hannah's complexion growing increasingly worse while unconscious, she gritted her teeth and steeled her resolve, deciding to take a gamble.
  • “Thank you, young lady. Please save my mistress!”
  • “Leave it to me.”
  • Stephanie didn't say anything more. She picked up the silver needles and started to perform acupuncture on Hannah, her movements so graceful and effortless that they were pleasing to the eye.
  • Cough! Cough! Cough!
  • Hannah coughed violently, gradually regaining consciousness. As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw Stephanie.
  • A look of amazement flashed across her eyes, and she started dazedly, “Where did this beautiful goddess come from? Could it be that I'm in heaven? Oh no, I haven't even seen my unfilial grandson get married and have kids yet. I was also hoping to see the birth of my great-grandchild—”
  • “Old Mrs. Quillen, you're alive and well, so don't speak of such ominous things!” The housekeeper hastily interrupted Hannah's lamentation, feeling awkward. “It was this young lady who saved you!”
  • “Oh, that's great! How wonderful! It turns out that I'm not dead!” Hannah breathed a sigh of relief. Snapping out of her trance, she looked at Stephanie kindly. “Young lady, I truly cannot thank you enough. This is all thanks to you! Otherwise, I wouldn't have the chance to see the birth of my great-grandchild. You're really my savior!”
