Chapter 6 You Talk Too Much
- When Mabel was still around, she would also always gaze at her with such tender affection.
- Stephanie's gaze was gentle, and she said softly, “I'm just glad you're okay.”
- Wow! Not only does this young lady look like a fairy, but her voice is also incredibly pleasant! Hannah found herself growing fonder of Stephanie the more she looked. She then held Stephanie's hand, reluctant to let go. She wanted to converse more with Stephanie, but having just woken up, she was still quite weak. After a few words, she began to pant for breath again.
- The ambulance finally arrived, and the doctor examined Hannah thoroughly, unable to suppress his astonishment. “The old lady isn't in any grave danger, but it's still necessary to take her to the hospital for proper rest and recuperation. This young lady's emergency response is particularly commendable. Otherwise, the old lady might have been at risk!”
- The gratitude in Hannah's eyes deepened. With some effort, she removed an emerald pendant from around her neck and placed it into Stephanie's hand. “Good child, accept this and know that you can always come to me if anything happens in the future...”
- The emerald pendant exuded a warm glow, indicating at first glance that it was no ordinary piece.
- Before Stephanie could even refuse, Hannah had already been whisked away into the ambulance.
- The crowd that had initially been filled with doubt toward Stephanie, after witnessing this scene, instantly held her in high regard.
- “My goodness, this young lady actually knows medical skills, and she even managed to heal the old woman from earlier. She's truly impressive!”
- “Absolutely! To possess such remarkable medical skills at such a young age is truly outstanding!”
- “Not only is she exceptional, but she's also incredibly kind-hearted. Without her, that old lady would've been in danger!”
- As Juliet stepped out of the mall, she gleaned the ins and outs based on the praises showered on Stephanie by the crowd. She couldn't help but curl her lip in disdain.
- She found it hard to believe that Stephanie, this country bumpkin who had just returned from the countryside, would know anything about medicine. It was probably just a fluke. It was sheer luck!
- She let out a derisive snort, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “Stephanie, you wouldn't know, coming from the countryside. In Jacaster, there are countless people looking to take advantage. Especially since we, the Yarbrough family, are the richest in the city, there's no shortage of envious eyes. You better not cause any trouble with your amateurish medical skills!”
- She kept referring to it as their family, clearly not considering Stephanie as part of the Yarbrough family.
- Stephanie's delicate, porcelain-white face was expressionless, not even bothering to glance at her. With long strides, she headed toward the shopping mall.
- Juliet's temper flared up instantly when she saw Stephanie daring to ignore her. “Stephanie, did you hear me talking to you? How dare you ignore me, Stephanie!”
- “You talk too much.” Stephanie halted, her attractive, upturned fox-like eyes shimmering with a cold light, instilling an involuntary sense of fear. “It's really annoying.”
- Just a single glance was enough to send a shiver up Juliet's spine, from the soles of her feet to the top of her head, causing her to involuntarily take a step back.
- “Stop bothering me.”
- Observing Juliet, who was startled into taking a few steps back, Stephanie tossed out those words. She didn't linger any longer and continued to walk forward.
- Juliet's complexion immediately worsened when she came back to her senses, her lips tightening in resentment. D*mn! I was actually intimidated by Stephanie, a country bumpkin from the countryside! However, where did that emerald pendant in Stephanie's hand come from? At first glance, it's clear that it's something valuable. If only I could get my hands on it...
- Inside the shop, William and Luna were escorted to try on their gowns. The shop assistant recognized Stephanie as the one who had arrived with Luna earlier.
- Seeing Stephanie dressed in plain clothes, they assumed she was nothing more than a poor relative who followed Luna and the others around. They also remembered the instructions given by Juliet.
- Juliet, the sixth young lady of the Yarbrough family, was pampered and doted on. It was clear they couldn't afford to offend her. When she instructed them to target Stephanie, they had no choice but to obey her commands.
- “Hey, what are you doing? Who allowed you to just barge in like this? This is a high-end establishment, not a place for country bumpkins like you. You've really dirtied our place!”
- “We really should thoroughly disinfect the shop, so it doesn't reek of poverty and desperation.”
- No sooner had her words fallen than a cold smile hooked the corners of the shop assistant's mouth. She immediately picked up the disinfectant on the table and sprayed it in Stephanie's eyes.
- Stephanie's reaction was incredibly swift. She quickly grabbed the shop assistant's wrist, her movements so fast that it was hard for anyone to catch up. The disinfectant spray that was intended for her didn't even touch her at all. Instead, it all ended up spraying onto the face and into the eyes of the shop assistant who had initiated the action.
- Stephanie voice, cool and elegant, rang out in a steady, unhurried rhythm. “Is it clean enough now?”
- “Ah! It hurts so much!” The disinfectant was intensely irritating to the eyes and skin, causing the shop assistant to cry out in pain immediately. “My eyes are in so much pain!”
- Following closely behind, Juliet entered and observed the scene. Her gaze grew increasingly sinister. So useless! Can't even handle such a small task of making life difficult for that b*tch, Stephanie!
- “Stephanie, that was really over the line! How could you spray disinfectant into her eyes!” Juliet's voice was loud, and the commotion inside the shop had already drawn quite a crowd. After hearing what Juliet had just said, they immediately began to join in and accuse Stephanie.
- “Exactly! Such a pretty young lady, but how could she be so wicked at heart?”
- “Absolutely! Spraying disinfectant into someone's eyes. That's just plain cruel!”
- “Exactly. Not only is she heartless, but she also lacks manners...”
- Listening to these disparaging remarks about Stephanie, Juliet felt an indescribable sense of satisfaction in her heart, a smug smile playing at the corners of her mouth.
- The harsher their insults, the better. She wanted Luna and William to see clearly that Stephanie was nothing more than a country bumpkin who had returned from the countryside, utterly incomparable to her.
- Seeing that everyone was on her side, the shop assistant glared at Stephanie fiercely. Immediately after, she started wiping her tears, revealing a pitiful expression.
- This made everyone present feel increasingly sympathetic toward her, and their dissatisfaction with Stephanie deepened a bit more.
- Juliet subtly curved her lips, immediately leaping into the conversation with an air of innocence. “Stephanie, hurry and tell everyone that you regret your actions. As long as you sincerely apologize, everyone will forgive you!”
- Stephanie lifted her captivating, upward-tilting fox-like eyes, her voice indifferent. “Well, I'm quite regretful now.”
- Juliet had been waiting for her to say just that. The satisfaction in her eyes deepened instantly. Making her apologize in front of everyone is enough to embarrass her!
- “Stephanie, recognizing one's mistakes and making amends is the greatest virtue. You should apologize to her now and ask for her forgiveness—”
- Before Juliet could finish her sentence, she was impatiently interrupted by Stephanie. “What I regret is not spraying enough earlier. I should have poured the entire bottle of disinfectant into her mouth,” Stephanie said.
- The tone she used was simply outrageous.
- Everyone present was stunned, taking a good while to process what had happened, which only served to increase their anger.
- “She's beyond cure!”
- “Absolutely! I mean, whose good family child behaves like her!”
- “So young and yet so wicked at heart!”
