Chapter 7 His Help
- Her head was muddled and her mind gradually turned blank. With the effect of the alcohol, she soon fell into a deep slumber.
- __ The Next Morning __
- Lucy fluttered her eyes open as a delightful aroma wafted through the air. The flavor of freshly baked cake and tea leaves with a hint of mint consumed her nose and her mouth instantly watered.
- Her eyes were met with golden ceilings and a huge chandelier and when she turned her head to the source of the aroma, a gasp escaped her lips.
- “Good morning, Princess.” Greg laughed softly while placing the breakfast tray on the bedside table. He sat beside the dumbfounded girl and said, “Hope I didn’t interrupt your beauty sleep.”
- Lucy stared at him blankly then everything that happened last night came flooding her senses; she got drunk, and then his car, then…
- “Ahhhhhhhhhhh,” she let out a scream, scrambled out of the bed, and surveyed her whole body. “W… Why did you bring me here!?” Her heart started pounding against her chest. She could remember asking him to take her to a hotel. But looking around, this place doesn’t look like a hotel room.
- Greg pulled his legs onto the bed and rested his back on the bed’s headrest. He supported his hands on the back of his head and said, “Why should I drop you at a hotel when I could spend the whole night admiring your lovely face.”
- “Argh! You’re crazy.” Lucy stomped her foot on the floor, then her eyes darted around for her shoes. This scene looks all familiar. Why had she entered his car? She could have let the dogs chase her all night, then she might be in less trouble than she was now.
- “Tsk tsk tsk. You should be grateful that I didn’t drop you at the roadside when you filled my car with your cries…” He sized her up with an amused grin, her red angry face eliciting him more. “Don’t worry, there’s no reporter around, your teensy tiny image is safe this time.”
- Lucy pursed her lips and picked up her shoes from a corner of the room. She quickly wore them and then rearranged her crumpled dress.
- “Aren’t you gonna eat your breakfast?” Greg called out from the bed. He watched her back as she strode toward the door and chuckled.
- Lucy paused in her footsteps and her hand halted on the doorknob. She turned around and her gaze landed on the breakfast tray as steam rose from the teacup and also the cake. She licked her lips and threw him a glare. “I don’t want your food.”
- “Are you sure?” Greg raised a brow, his smile widening. She gave him another glare then turned her attention back to the plate and he chortled. “Alright then, I guess I’ll have to eat Trina’s delicious treats alone… Come to think of it, I haven’t tasted their famous snacks before. This is my lucky day.”
- He took the tray and settled it on his lap.
- Lucy’s jaw dropped and she blinked. How did he know about her favorite snack shop? Were they really from Trina’s Treats? He might be lying right? But what if he’s saying the truth?
- She swallowed a huge gulp of saliva and licked her lower lips while he breathed in the air around the food before picking up a doughnut, all the while, his gaze had never left her.
- “Don’t you wanna have a taste?” Greg asked invitingly. However, she remained silent.
- He shrugged then turned his eyes back to the doughnut. And all of a sudden just as he was about to take a bite, the girl reached his side and snatched the tray, almost spilling the tea on him.
- A chuckle escaped his lips as she blew hard on the tea while trying to swallow the cake already inside her mouth.
- He dropped his feet on the floor then took the cup from her hand and started blowing on it. “Tsk tsk tsk… pretender,” he whispered with a chuckle and she pursed her lips.
- Lucy picked another doughnut and put it inside her mouth. A smile crept up her lips as the taste of strawberry enriched milk hit her taste buds and the mellow solid melted on her tongue. ‘Mmmm… This is sooo good.’ He even bought her favorite flavor.
- The tea cup appeared on her face and she let him feed her. Her sense was all consumed by the savory delicacy that all the thoughts to berate the guy flew out of her mind.
- Greg dropped the cup after she was done eating, then used his thumb to wipe the small crumbs off the sides of her lips. “You eat like a baby.”
- She pouted again and he let out another soft laugh. “You also behave like a baby.”
- “I’m not a baby!” Lucy shoved his hand away and put a distance between them. She was sick of hearing the same word all the time. Why does everyone treat her as a baby? Even her parents– she couldn’t even make her own decisions. Why does she have to be the last child of the family?
- She threw daggers at him with her gaze and he let out that annoying laugh. Oh, what she could give to provoke this stupid guy even if it is once.
- His smile suddenly vanished and he looked into her eyes seriously. “Are you sure you don’t want my help,” he said suddenly. “If you’re not happy with the engagement, I’ll be more than willing to grab you out of it… I’ll be glad to have another record.”
- Lucy narrowed her eyes, thinking back to how he and his mischievous brother had helped her sisters-in-law to sabotage their sister’s engagement with their cousin.
- Her eyes widened and she quickly shook her head.
- “Come on, you have to be at least still single for a few more years. A beauty like you shouldn’t be bound to another guy so early.” He added then gave her a taunting look
