Chapter 45

• They said nothing about the interview, and it scared me to ask them about it. I was still sore from last night and didn't want them to order me to spread my legs once more if I wanted to see them at my office.
• I left their house early to get ready for work. They said nothing about the interview and I didn't remind them of it, opting to leave them to whatever they decide on. They didn't offer to drive me home like I thought they would, which further solidified my claims about them not showing up at my workplace.
• I got dressed for the office earlier since I returned by 6. I didn't bother with a heel, knowing I might not take over 10 steps in it before my legs gave way. Had I not been eager for work, I wouldn't have gone out today. I would have spent the rest of the day soaking in my tub and begging the ache to ease.
