• I looked at Claire, asleep next to me, her face relaxed, as if all the tension from the past few months had finally melted away. She seemed at peace, and I found myself smiling, unable to believe my luck. She was with me, and nothing else in the world mattered.
• For a while now, I had known that Claire was the love of my life. Everything we had been through, every obstacle, every moment of fear and uncertainty, had brought us to this point.
