Chapter 8 Paternity Test

  • Danny didn't pay much attention to the accident in the park. For him, it was just something he did without thinking much of it.
  • The next day, the sun was shining brightly.
  • Danny got up, washed up, and went downstairs. He went to a breakfast shop with soy milk and fried doughnuts. Then, he rode his bike to a nearby store—Kyorin Traditional Medicine Pharmacy.
  • Danny opened the store, and a musty smell that had been sealed for a long time hit him. The medicine cabinets were covered in dust, and spider webs filled the corners.
  • This place had witnessed Danny's rise and fall over the years.
  • Memories flashed in Danny's eyes.
  • His grades in high school were not ideal, so he only got into a second-tier college. Due to his father's job, he chose to study traditional medicine.
  • In college, he met Caroline, whom he thought would forever accompany him!
  • Being deeply in love, he was not motivated to study and focused all his attention on this campus beauty, trying to please her in every way possible.
  • In the end, he won her over, but his academic performance plummeted.
  • Fortunately, after graduation, they immediately held a wedding that made others envious.
  • After starting a family, Danny began to work hard. With the help of his father's connections, he opened this traditional medicine pharmacy, specializing in the buying and selling of traditional medicinal materials.
  • In the beginning, the business was booming. In order to appear professional, he even hired an old traditional medicine doctor to practice in the pharmacy, adding fuel to the fire.
  • And all the money he earned went to the Jenners.
  • Later, as Danny's father retired and the old traditional medicine doctor got too old and resigned, Danny's medical skills could only be described as appalling.
  • So, within a few months, the store's business plummeted, and Danny himself fell into a bottleneck in life.
  • Following that, due to the pressure of life, their relationship fell apart.
  • This store witnessed Danny's glory and also carried his downfall.
  • "From today onward, you and I will face the world in a completely new way, letting others see a completely different side of us."
  • Danny murmured with a smile as if chatting with the pharmacy.
  • An hour later, Danny cleaned up the store until it was spotless. Satisfied, he took a final look, locked the door, and left. He had something more important to do today.
  • It was a paternity test with Taylor.
  • Danny believed in his father's words, but no matter what, he had to conduct a test with Taylor personally. It was an obsession in his heart.
  • He would only believe it when he saw it with his own eyes.
  • At Brady Estate, Danny stood not far from the signpost, took out a cigarette, and lit it. He had quit smoking for several years, and now the long-lost smell of smoke stimulated his chest.
  • "What are you, a useless piece of trash, doing here? Do you want to grovel and apologize to me?"
  • "I'm telling you, it's too late. I'm getting engaged to Bradley in a few days!"
  • "Tsk, you're really a useless piece of trash. Smoking again."
  • Caroline, dressed in a black uniform, walked out of the sales hall and looked at Danny with disgust on her face, speaking contemptuously.
  • Yesterday, Danny's madness had left her terrified.
  • But today, she was no longer afraid. She was at the company's doorstep, and if Danny dared to act recklessly, with a single command from her, he would be in trouble.
  • Now, her status was completely different. She was about to hold an engagement banquet with Bradley and had become a true lady of the Brady Estate, a socialite.
  • There was mockery, sneers, and gossip within the company, but there was also envy.
  • In this day and age, people laughed at the poor, not the prostitutes.
  • "Is Taylor my son?"
  • Danny took a deep drag of his cigarette, his deep gaze fixed on the woman he had once loved the most.
  • Caroline was taken aback, seemingly confused.
  • In the next moment, she became furious. "Danny, haven't you had enough? If I did it, I would admit it. If I didn't, don't you dare blame me!"
  • "The biggest regret of my life is having a child with a useless person like you. If I had another chance, I would rather die than marry you!"
  • Caroline's words were harsh, but Danny furrowed his brows. Her words clearly meant that Taylor was his son.
  • However, could the paternity test report be fake?
  • Absolutely impossible!
  • "I want to do a paternity test with Taylor, but I don't want to hurt the child's feelings. So, go and get a strand of Taylor's hair, and we'll go to the hospital together."
  • "By the way, let me remind you, don't have any illusions about having custody of Taylor. You won't take him away whether he is my son or not!"
  • Danny's words were resolute.
  • He wanted custody of Taylor, regardless of whether he was his biological child or not, but he also wanted to know the answer and couldn't live in confusion.
  • Caroline's eyes turned cold, and she sneered, "Danny, have you lost your mind? Who do you think you are to order me around?"
  • "You want custody of Taylor? Fine, bring one million over."
  • "Also, if you want to do a paternity test, do it yourself. I don't have time. I want to keep myself in a good mood and wait for the engagement banquet."
  • Caroline's words made Danny smile.
  • His smile was full of sarcasm. "Okay. Then, don't think about getting a divorce."
  • With that sentence, it was as if he had grabbed Caroline's throat, drastically causing her face to change.
