Chapter 6 He Will Forever Be My Son!
- Before Jeffrey retired, he was the head of a department in the hospital. His long-standing habit always made him wear a serious expression. The man rarely smiled.
- "A while ago, I had dinner with some old colleagues. I brought Taylor with me, and after we arrived, my old colleagues said that Taylor did not look like you when you were a child.
- "I would brush it off if only one person said that, but I started to have doubts when everyone said the same thing. I wanted to tell you, but I feared hurting your feelings. If things got out of hand, it would make Caroline sad.
- "Suspecting someone without reason is something we shouldn't do, so today at noon, instead of taking Taylor to his grandfather's house, I secretly took him to have a paternity test."
- At this point, Georgina, who was beside him, quickly held Danny's hand, tears welling up in her eyes.
- "Just now, the test results came out. Taylor and I… have no blood relationship!"
- Boom!
- As Jeffrey finished speaking, Danny felt as if an electric current had struck him. His body stiffened, and his gaze darted everywhere.
- His breathing became rapid, his face turned pale, and his heart pounded like a hammer.
- He was utterly stunned.
- In this instant, Danny became numb. He was completely stunned, and his brain stopped working.
- "Dad… You're not Taylor's father. The test…"
- Danny forced a smile and spoke.
- Jeffrey stood up abruptly, veins popping on his forehead as he stared at Danny intently. "Son, I did a paternity test. Do you understand what blood relationship means?
- "Caroline has deceived you, and we have all been kept in the dark. Do you know how serious this is?"
- As he finished speaking, Georgina had already burst into tears.
- "Son, don't blame me for speaking harshly. Caroline is too heartless. She treated our whole family like fools. We have been raising someone else's child for all these years!
- "In the blink of an eye, my grandson is gone and belongs to someone else's family."
- Georgina's grip on Danny's fingertips turned white.
- Danny's mind went blank at this point.
- Taylor is not my own child?
- He took a deep breath and gulped. The betrayal by Caroline during the day had already pushed him to the brink of collapse. Now, with this news about his son, it was like adding insult to injury.
- "All these years, I watched Taylor grow from a little child to this tall, sweet-talking, handsome boy who is loved by everyone. He's like a little elf."
- Danny gestured with his hands, describing his son's height with a smile on his face.
- He looked up at his parents, his eyes red and tears welling up. However, he held them back, not letting them fall.
- "Mom, Dad!
- "I can't bear to let Taylor go!
- "I will raise him, regardless of him being my son or not. Caroline can't take him away, and she has no right to. Taylor is my son, do you understand?
- "He is my son!"
- The veins on Danny's neck bulged at this point.
- Jeffrey closed his eyes, his face filled with pain. After a moment, he opened his eyes and looked at Danny. "Son, do you know what you're saying?
- "Taylor is not your biological child!"
- Danny smiled, and the tears he finally couldn't hold back slid down his face.
- "It doesn't matter!
- "Taylor is my son!"
- Danny's words were strong and powerful!
- Jeffrey nodded gently and stood up with the support of the chair. At that moment, his once straight back seemed to have bowed a bit, making him appear much older.
- "Son, you've grown up. Make your own choices and do what you think is right. Your mother and I will always support you!
- "For this matter, do it your way, but you and Caroline must come to a resolution. There is absolutely no room for negotiation in this matter!
- "The Grahams cannot tolerate such a woman!"
- After speaking, Jeffrey turned and left.
- Boom!
- The sound of the door closing was like thunder.
- Tears streamed down Georgina's face like rain. She quickly held Danny's hand and said, "Son, please don't do anything foolish. Have a good talk with Caroline. I won't disturb the two of you. I'll give you space to handle it. Your father and I will stand by your side no matter the outcome!"
- Georgina didn't dare to say more, afraid that Danny could not handle it with his current state of mind. She quietly left the room step by step.
- The empty room was incredibly quiet.
- Danny sat on the sofa, picked up the photo of the three of them on the coffee table, and looked at the smiling face of his son in the picture.
- Smiling, he murmured, "Taylor, I won't let you leave me. No matter who you are or whose blood flows in your body, you will forever be my son!"
- Danny put the photo down and turned to leave the room.
- The room was too small and suffocating, making it hard for Danny to breathe. He needed to go out and take a breath of fresh air.
- In the cool night breeze, Danny walked on the road, looking at the happy couples around him. He seemed to see his past self and Caroline as if they were once so inseparable, too.
- Danny laughed at himself as he walked aimlessly.
- In a park, Danny sat in a small pavilion, watching as the number of people decreased in the night. His heart had become calmer compared to before.
- "It's time to go back."
- He stood up and stretched his arms.
- After all, no matter what happened, the sun would rise tomorrow, and its light would shine upon the earth once again.
