Chapter 3 The Billion-Dollar Penalty

  • Olivia glanced at the document. It was a prenuptial agreement that clearly outlined the high-end living arrangements the Wilson family would provide her with after marrying Alexander.
  • Aside from that, during the marriage, the Wilson family would not give Olivia a single penny, and Alexander's assets would have no bearing on her. Even in the event of divorce, Olivia would receive no property.
  • While that was not a concern, Olivia had never been interested in Alexander’s money. When she saw the final line, she was stunned.
  • “One billion!”
  • Henry calmly explained, “According to the prenuptial agreement between Ms. Carter and Mr. Wilson, the termination of this marriage must be decided by Mr. Wilson. If Ms. Carter wishes to terminate the marriage early, you must pay a penalty of one billion.”
  • Olivia stared at the figure on the contract, swearing that this was the first time in her life she had ever known a one-billion penalty.
  • In her past life, when she fell head over heels for Alexander, the Carter family told her that Alexander wanted to marry her, and she was so thrilled that she didn't think twice. She just signed the contract provided by the Carter family directly.
  • She hadn't bothered to read what was written in the contract, trusting the Carter family implicitly.
  • The one billion penalty was like a heavy blow that shattered Olivia’s dream of freedom.
  • “Do you prefer a check or a credit card?” Henry asked, his expression impassive.
  • Olivia was speechless. Could I put it on credit?
  • Forget about one billion; she couldn't even come up with a thousand dollars right now!
  • Olivia tentatively suggested, “Alexander doesn’t like me, and he isn’t short of money. He’d probably be happy if I left on my own. Can we just consider the divorce as his idea?”
  • Henry looked at Olivia with a mix of exasperation and contempt. He had previously underestimated Olivia or “Mrs. Wilson,” and he now wanted to kill her.
  • Olivia was chosen as Mr. Wilson’s wife by Mr. Liam, and as long as Mr. Liam was around, Mr. Wilson would never propose a divorce.
  • “If Ms. Carter changes her mind, I’ll be leaving now.”
  • Henry had no intention of dealing with this woman who became crazy suddenly.
  • While he had always looked down on Olivia’s attempts to cling to Alexander, the idea of her trying to use divorce as a tactic to attract Mr. Wilson was absurd.
  • “Wait!” Olivia took a deep breath.
  • If she remembered correctly, this was her last semester of senior year.
  • She would not repeat the same mistakes!
  • She was determined to divorce Alexander!
  • One billion… She would do whatever it took!
  • Once she earned that one billion, she would turn it into coins, hire a truck, and bury Alexander with it!
  • “Is there anything else, Ms. Carter?” Henry asked impatiently.
  • “Prepare a car. I’m going out,” Olivia said.
  • Henry’s eyes flickered slightly. This was the first time in the year since Olivia married into the Wilson family that she had actively used something from the Wilson family.
  • However, Henry ignored her. Olivia noticed Henry's indifference.
  • She knew he looked down on her, and regardless of her feelings for Alexander, she was not seen as worthy of being married to him in their eyes.
  • In her past life, she might have tolerated it.
  • But this time, she wanted to stay as far away from Alexander as possible!
  • They refused to let her go!
  • Since she couldn’t get a divorce, why should she be so cautious and frugal for Alexander?
  • Olivia walked straight out of the study toward the garage.
  • Henry noticed Olivia’s unusual demeanor and followed her.
  • Olivia went straight to the garage.
  • The garage door was locked, and the expensive fingerprint lock prevented Olivia from opening it.
  • “This lock can only be opened with Mr. Wilson’s fingerprint,” Henry said with a cold expression, standing nearby.
