Chapter 4 Creeping Me Out
- "What the hell am I seeing!" Mia shouted, snapping me out of my thoughts and making me jump slightly. I looked to my side and saw that her and Lisa were giving me evil smirks.
- "What?" I asked, confused, but they just rolled their eyes at me.
- "Don't play all innocent with us, Sara. We have eyes you know, and we can see that you are clearly attracted to him. You are interested in him, right?" Mia said, playfully elbowing me and I gave her a bored look while faking a yawn.
- "Oh please, just stop this. Don't get me wrong, yes he is handsome, but he is not what you think. He gave me the evilest smirk and the way he was looking at me was really creepy, it was like he wanted to devour me. I think he is a jerk, he comes across all sweet and innocent, but I think it's just a mask he wears in public." I replied, but they both just stood there, staring at me as the smiles on their faces widened and showed their teeth.
- "Ugh... I know you don't believe me, but it's the truth. You two just can't get past the fact that he is handsome." I said, sighing in frustration. They both kept smiling at me as they linked arms with me and dragged me out the department exit and to the elevator. We got in the lift, but they wouldn't shut up about how handsome he was, and it was giving me a headache. We finally reached the restaurant and all the delicious smells invaded my nose, making my mouth water. The restaurant was set up like a buffet, but instead of having single items and just picking your own, they had ready made plates of food set up and all you had to do was get a tray and put the plates you wanted on it.
- I looked at all the choices they had and started picking up plates, I was starving and god only knows when I would be able to eat again, so I decided to stock up. I had fish, chips and mushy peas, a roast beef dinner with mashed potatoes, peas, carrots and covered with gravy and for dessert I had a hot chocolate fudge cake with custard. I know it was a weird combination, but everything looked so good and inviting that I couldn't choose between them. I followed Lisa and Mia to a table, sat down and dove into my food. I badly needed it and my complete focus was on my food, but the two crazy girls sitting beside me were still talking about Daniel Lautner, and it was driving me nuts.
- "Sara, do you know?…." Lisa started to say, dragging my attention from my food and onto her.
- "Do you know who Daniel is exactly?" She asked, and I stopped eating my food to think about her question for a moment or two.
- "I know he is a famous businessman, I first met him when I went to that party and everyone was talking about his success, but I didn't pay any attention to it. I wish i had though, now knowing that he is a partner with our company, but at the time I didn't bother." I replied and carried on eating my food. Ooo mushy peas, lovely. Lisa and Mia went quiet, a little too quiet and when I looked up from my plate, both their eyes were on me.
- "What? What happened? Did I say something wrong?" I asked, smiling nervously at them. They put their spoons down and gave me their full attention.
- "You didn't say anything wrong, but you didn't exactly tell us anything either." Mia said and I smiled again.
- "Yeah I know." I replied, still not understanding what they were talking about.
- "You don't actually know anything about him, do you?" Mia said, looking angry with me. What is wrong with her today? Who cares about him? I don't.
- "So what, who cares?" I replied and just as I was about to put a fork full of food into my mouth, a smile appeared on Mia's face. I knew she was dying to tell me about him, after all it was her favourite topic.
- "He is 28 years old and the only son of Mr. Taylor Lautner. He is the heir to his family and is ranked among the top five richest men in the country, but do you know what he is famous for….rejection. He will only ever sleep with a woman once, he won't date her. He is so fucking hot, that I wouldnt mind a one night stand with him, but he doesn't easily give attention to common women, they must be special or catch his eye somehow. I hope one day he will notice me…." Mia said, she was still talking, but I went into a daze and looked out the window. I was trying my hardest to forget about his eyes and how they looked at me, like Mia said he doesn't pay attention to common women like us. Maybe I am reading too much into it? Maybe I've got him all wrong? After all, why would he pay attention to someone like me? I bet it's more than likely that he heard the rumours going around about me and has just become another one of my haters, who gives me ugly nasty looks. I looked down at my food and I had lost my appetite, so I stood up and took out my purse.
- "Hey, where are you going? You said you were hungry, but you haven't even finished your food yet." Lisa asked, I looked back at my plates of food and I felt my stomach turn.
- "I'm not hungry anymore." I replied, putting money on the table to cover my share of the bill and walking out of the restaurant. I went back to the office and as soon as I walked in, everyone walked out and went to have their lunch. It always made me feel so alone and unwelcome when they did that, but today I had a weird feeling and the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. I was the only one here, but I felt like someone was watching me. I looked around, but there was no one else here except for me, that was until I looked up and saw Daniel. He was standing by this big window, which was like a wall of glass, and I was able to fully see him. He had one hand in his pocket and the other was on the glass. He was looking right at me, with a vacant expression, I lowered my eyes and took my seat behind my desk, but when I looked up again he was still standing there, still staring at me. I looked back down and started my work, but I could feel his eyes on me, and it was creeping me out.
