• Arian saw through Jed's eyes how his own father sheltered and cared for Jed. Saw his mate pleading with Sheriff Blaidd not to tell his father what Quade had done. "A boy has to honor his father. I can't destroy Quade in daddy's eyes..." He saw his father reluctantly agree, until it was needed.
• He saw how the investigation hit dead ends. Every place the Jed could remember being violated was scrubbed, cleaned, and abandoned. The men who used him dead or missing. Even the theme park had a major data breach and all of the video was lost from Jed's weekend with Vuk.
• The strip mall in St Petersburg was vacant. All the names on the leases were dummy corporations, resulting in still more dead ends. With only a single note left behind it was a single phrase in Serbian, "See you soon, MY little soul!"
