Chapter 7 Kurt's Trouble

  • C
  • It was the evening of the charity gala. Kurt entered the ballroom with an armful of flowers, barely able to focus on what Blaine, his personal assistant, was saying. However, that didn't mean he was ignoring him. It had been a long day at the office, and Kurt hadn't even reached his seat when Sarah, his secretary, reminded him of the gala that evening. He tried to hide his disappointment, not really wanting to spend the night in a stuffy room full of wealthy people. But then again, that wasn't why he had agreed to come.
  • In his pursuit of a deeper connection, Kurt stumbled upon a group of individuals dedicated to philanthropy and making a positive impact in the world. Inspired by their passion and altruism, he joined forces with them, utilizing his resources and influence to contribute to various charitable causes.
  • Immersing himself in this new world of giving back, Kurt discovered a sense of purpose that had eluded him for so long. He witnessed first-hand the impact his actions could have on the lives of others, filling him with a profound sense of fulfillment.
  • The night of Dirk's rejection left a bitter taste in everyone's mouths and worsened their health conditions. First, their pheromones vanished, then their lycgers grew dormant until they could no longer feel their better halves. The essence of being Double-shifters slowly slipped away with Dirk's rejections, leaving them empty and wondering how to live their lives now that they could neither be called Alphas nor Double-shifters.
  • Thanks to their Birth Omega, who made the doctor swear an oath of secrecy, the packs remained unaware. However, the betas knew because certain deficiencies in a Were's abilities couldn't remain hidden.
  • Dirk not only stole a mate from them, but he also took away their lives, forcing them to adapt to the void he left behind.
  • Once Seth left home, Kurt knew he would do the same. Only Tricc believed he could handle being a Pack Leader given his health circumstances. But as soon as Seth departed, Kurt wasted no time following suit. He grabbed his small duffle bag, bid farewell to everyone, and left. The night he departed was harsh, but he managed just fine, taking as much money as he could from both his father and Birth Omega to venture into a different part of the world.
  • ************
  • Kurt stood in the heart of the bustling city, his eyes filled with a mix of excitement and longing. After rejecting the idea of becoming a pack leader, he ventured into a different world, filled with glamour and extravagance. He opened a club, hotel, and casino, where he lived a life of opulence and indulgence.
  • He had always been drawn to the allure of the finer things in life. His charismatic nature and magnetic charm made him a natural fit for the world of entertainment and luxury. As he immersed himself in this new lifestyle, he quickly became known as a playboy, with his name whispered in admiration and envy.
  • The club and casino became the epicentre of Kurt's lavish lifestyle. It was a place where the wealthy and influential gathered, seeking escape from the mundane realities of their lives. Kurt reveled in the attention, basking in the adoration of his patrons. He was the embodiment of desire, with his every whim catered to by a staff that knew no bounds in their quest to please him.
  • Night after night, Kurt entertained his guests with charm and charisma, his laughter filling the air as he danced and mingled with the crowd. He was the life of the party, the center of attention, and he relished every moment of it.
  • But beneath the glitz and glamour, Kurt couldn't shake the feeling of emptiness that lingered within him. The one-night stands and fleeting connections left him longing for something deeper, something more meaningful. He yearned for a genuine connection, a love that would transcend the superficiality of his lavish lifestyle.
  • As time went on, his reputation as a playboy grew, and his conquests became the stuff of legends. He had two sons, one with a male omega and another with a female vampire, but even their presence couldn't fill the void in his heart. He loved his sons dearly, but he knew that true fulfillment lay beyond the superficial trappings of his lavish lifestyle.
  • One evening, as Kurt stood on the balcony of his penthouse, overlooking the city below, he felt a sense of restlessness wash over him. The glittering lights and the sounds of laughter seemed hollow, their meaning lost in the sea of superficial connections he had built.
  • Kurt knew that he needed to break free from the cycle of empty encounters and find a deeper purpose. He yearned to discover a love that would fill the void within him, the void left by Dirk's rejection, and to connect with someone on a soul-deep level.
  • Years had passed since the rejection, and their lives must surely go on despite the many difficulties.
  • With that desire in mind, Kurt embarked on a journey of self-discovery. He sought out connections that went beyond physical desire, seeking meaningful conversations and genuine connections. He surrounded himself with individuals who challenged him intellectually, sparked his curiosity, and ignited his passion for life.
  • Through his encounters, he began to understand that true fulfillment lay not in material possessions or fleeting pleasures, but in the bonds we form with others. He realized that his lavish lifestyle had been a mere facade, a glittering mask that hid his true desires and yearnings.
  • And it was at this time that he found love in philanthropy, a cause he truly believed in. It filled a part of the void inside him. Kurt began taking steps to help fund charities and start small businesses that would hopefully change the lives of the poor and disenfranchised. He worked tirelessly for days at the library or on projects to support these initiatives. He even started his own foundation, offering services ranging from childcare to children's therapy and teaching.
  • He spent hours in meetings with government officials, educators, and community leaders, seeking solutions to social problems that plagued many people. He traveled across the world, meeting with business owners and politicians from across the globe, trying to gain insight into their policies and tactics. His efforts brought him more wealth, fame, and connections—a life Kurt never knew he needed.
  • And now, everything seemed to make sense, and he loved it.
  • *************
  • Walking into the ballroom, Kurt greeted the hostess in French, handing her the flowers, and made his way towards a table with a pitcher of champagne. He sipped on his drink, admiring the view while taking his position at the bar. Glancing around, he noticed familiar faces among the crowd, and he smiled to himself. However, the smile quickly faded as his eyes were drawn to a figure standing in the corner of the room. He had only looked away for a moment, and when he looked back, the figure was gone.
  • Kurt's eyes scanned the large space, searching for the owner of the dark brown hair that had caught his interest. Finding nothing, the corners of his mouth quivered upwards. He turned his head and spotted a familiar face—tall, dark, and handsome, wearing black slacks, a crisp white shirt, and a red vest. His hair was styled in a fashionable sweep, revealing striking blue eyes. Kurt knew he was a werewolf and the figure that had caught his eye earlier. The man's expression was neutral, showing no signs of the excitement that usually resided there, but the look in his eyes told Kurt that he was quite pleased with how his day had gone.
  • "I couldn't help but notice you noticing me," the man said as Kurt approached. "You are quite a sight."
  • A soft chuckle rumbled in Kurt's throat at his tactics. "Is that so?" he asked, feigning surprise. "You are rather perceptive," he added.
  • "I'm a werewolf after all. I can see through facades very easily," replied the man, taking Kurt's hand. He pulled him close, whispering. "I am Erik, by the way, Erik Lehnsherr." He pulled back and took a filled glass from the counter. "I see my beauty draws you like a moth to a flame. You are quite enamored with me. I can see it in your eyes."
  • At this comment, Kurt blushed slightly, averting his gaze and nervously playing with his glass of champagne. He cleared his throat, changing the subject. "I'm-"
  • "Kurt. I know," Erik interrupted, placing his wine glass on the countertop. Kurt blinked in surprise. "Please don't look so surprised. You're a famous man... who would say they have never heard of you, huh? But, I must say, I'm delighted to be in the presence of one of the Lycgers... never thought I would meet you face to face, but of course, all weres have heard of the double-shifters."
  • "Well, you seem to know it all," Kurt chuckled again.
  • "I'd love to chat some more about our shared history, but as charming as this conversation is, I am late for an important meeting with one of my associates..." Erik trailed off, glancing at the clock hanging over the bar.
  • "A moment, please," Kurt requested, holding up a finger. Erik nodded and gave his signature smirk. "May I at least get a card?"
  • Smiling, Erik shook his head negatively and burst into laughter when he saw a frown cross over Kurt's forehead. "Oh, don't be modest. You and I both know that if you desire to see me again, you know just how to do so." Erik winked, causing Kurt to blush deeply.
  • "Playing hard to get, I see..." Kurt muttered. "Very well, then, Mr. Lehnsherr. I like a challenge."
  • Erik laughed lightly and moved to leave, pausing to give Kurt another lingering glance, his lips curving upward at the corners in a wicked grin. "Perfect, see you soon then."
  • Kurt's eyes narrowed as he watched Erik's retreating figure. As soon as Erik was safely out of hearing distance, Kurt released a growl of frustration, but it wasn't directed at the man who had just left. He felt a sudden change in the atmosphere and an overwhelming urge to leave. The room became unbearably hot, and he immediately turned and ran for the exit doors.
  • Pushing the giant doors apart, he rushed out into the garden, where a crisp breeze brushed against his heated face. He began ripping his jacket from his body, throwing the once-expensive tux aside. He growled again, and his eyes flashed an intense red.
  • His Lycgers were awakened, and worse, they called.
  • Mate.
