Chapter 46 First Kiss

  • They held onto him tightly, crushing his ribcage under their paws. Their claws dug into the flesh of his arms, and the sharp points of their fangs pierced his skin, causing blood to spurt through the air and hit their teeth. Blood gushed from his neck in streams, and pain shot across his back as they tossed him around like a rag doll. Their strength was incredible, and his entire body screamed in agony. There was nothing he could do.
  • He tried to scream, but the pressure on his windpipe prevented him from forming words. He thrashed about, kicking and scratching wildly as his body was dragged forward. His limbs were starting to go numb, the blood loss taking its toll on him. The taste of iron flooded his senses, making his stomach churn unpleasantly. He whimpered and struggled to get free. He had been caught unprepared, and they had him so easily. There was no doubt in his mind that they planned to kill him. He was completely helpless, and he hated feeling powerless. But now it was too late. He was going to die.
  • And then, he saw it: a glint of silver. A small dagger embedded itself into the shoulder of one of the rogues, piercing his thick hide and causing blood to spill freely. The rogue holding him let out a screech of pain. Dirk caught the familiar scent of wolfsbane; there was no way that rogue was getting up alive.
